Re: LS gas tank for 65?

Did you look at any of the other tanks that they have to offer?

Re: LS gas tank for 65?

I looked through all the usual suspects that I’ve seen mentioned on the forums. Mustang/Falcon tanks etc. I haven’t found a great fit yet. Any ideas for where I should look? I certainly like the price of Tanks Inc.

Thanks, Cris

Re: LS gas tank for 65?

There was a member here that used either the '49-'52 or the '53-'54 gas tank in his truck. I will have to see if I can find his thread.

Here is my 65 with Boyd’s tank.

Without the bumper you can really see it, with the bumper on its hardly seen.

Re: LS gas tank for 65?

I used the tanks inc universal tank which fit almost perfect. I had to remove the spare tire holder plate and just touch the sides with a grinder but very very little.

Re: LS gas tank for 65?

Gregg, the 53 tank looks pretty wide. How did you do the install?

Thanks, Cris

Re: LS gas tank for 65?

I don’t remember who did this first and shared with the forum but I copied them,ol. It requires very minor trimming of the lower frame rail toward the front and flipping the rear cross member. The filler is on the drivers side of the tank. We chose to run the filler behind the tail light.

Search 66 farmers big block, I’m pretty sure he pioneered this tank swap.

Re: LS gas tank for 65?

Member Lakeroadster was the first one I saw use the '53-'54 gas tank, but I can't find his thread that shows the install.
