I know your pain. I have lost 3 Schaefferhunds in the course of time. None ever got older than 12. They're so smart, like another human, but being a dog they get even closer to your heart. You gave him a good life and a great truck to ride in. Here's my girl, Lola. [RIP]

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
So sorry for your loss. We had to put our family member down this last week as well . She was 14 and lived a good life . Her last ride was in my '67 on the seat next to me. We knew it wouldn't be long last year so We were lucky enough to find a new member to the the family to help with the loss, but it's not the same . We will never forget them.

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
Very sorry for the loss of your pup and your friend...those shepherds are beautiful dogs.
People often underestimate the loss of the family pet and it is often as traumatic as some the loss of some family members sometimes. On the upside tho'...consider this in the back of your mind when you get a chance...out there is a little pup somewhere that is looking forward to a new 'big buddy' too and a new master, just as Ace was at one time. Food for thought when some of the fog clears around your loss... Hang in there, good things ahead. All good Coley

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
Sorry for your loss, that is a hard thing to do, my chow Montana was 16 when I put him down had him since 6th grade I had just got married when he got sick. I had another dog Duke that was younger but I really think he died out of mourning he would lay next to where Montana was buried. Whent out one day and he had passed. Still haven't had another dog since.

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
Yes I agree with Coley. There will never, ever be a replacement for Ace as he was your best friend. But as you get older there is a pup out there that will be your next best friend, you and the puppy will have something that is dear to both of your hearts. This is by my own experience. When the time comes please give him or her a chance for the Love you gave Ace. There is something special in a relationship between man and his dog. I know it is hard but please try to find another best friend it does help. Thanks for listening Russ

So sorry to hear about your lose. They are so loyal, mine follows me everywhere. There not just pals, but Family. I have a muggle, he's 12, has. an enlarged heart, and congestive heart failure. Been that way for a year now, as long as he's on drugs he's fine, but I know the day will come. I also tell everyone that I just wish the wife thought half as much of me as he does. Just love the little guy to pieces. They just don't live long enough.

The Rainbows Bridge Poem
RainbowBridge.com Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... |

Very sorry for your loss. My best friend Buster passed just before Christmas last year, would have been 16 in Feb, and he was a big truck fan.

Sorry to hear about your buddy. I know it’s tough. We have been through it numerous times and it’s never easy. Just know He isn’t suffering now. Condolences to you and your family.

Re: Lost my buddy today. Rest in peace "Ace"
I want to thank everyone who replied to this thread for the condolences and kind words of comfort and encouragement. It means a lot to me, just as Ace meant a lot to me. This is a great community of caring people who happen to be classic truck enthusiasts like myself and I consider you all friends. Thanks for caring and sharing your thoughts. Ace would have appreciated it too...
