I added oil... She's sucking a lot back these days. Then drove it to make sure some of that oil went to good use.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Tried to fix gas gauge with new sender/wire. Still no luck. Barely moves off empty. Wonder if I have 90 ohm gauge with 30 ohm sender?
Try again tomorrow. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Good fix, and more dependable than the clip. Other than being a different style heim joint, that's the same setup I ran for 20 years until recently switching to a cable style gas pedal.

Replaced my column shifter bushings and aligned the shifter arms. Put the name decals on the front bumper and tailgate.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks for the interest and feedback! I try to keep up with the various build threads, but there are so many cool things on this site every now and then I'm surprised to find an ongoing thread I've never seen before.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
ordered 108 button head stainless steel bolts and washers in different sizes to replace all the visible bolts on the engine, inner fenders, fenders, etc.
Even if my painting sucks, the bolts will look good! We finally decided on the color scheme - dark purple with the tan silverado interior. Going to fab up a vinyl over fiberglass shell dash cap and headliner and cover the door panels in the vinyl as well. I will be so glad to get all the patch panels in so we can start, sanding and painting. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
dantimdad,
For your button head stainless bolts, you might want to check out the Mc Master-Carr catalog and get some of the clear nylon flat washers to place under the button head bolts for the inner fenders etc. to protect the paint from scratching or marring. Just a thought. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got some parts back from powder coat this week so I did some assembling.
This is what the finished grill I've been working on will look like. I had to remove the headlight buckets from the C50/60 grill and use the C10 ones so as long as they were out I powdered them black and just used small screws to remount them into the grill. The backside shot shows how I attached the letters to the center section. I think it came out real nice. I also assembled my power brake assembly. I went to the local yard and sawed off a pedal off a late model Silverado, did the same to my pedal then welded the longer pedal to my brake arm. All was powder coated, reassembled and a new rubber pad from the local Chevy parts store installed. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I am not much for mods, but let me tell you... that grill looks absolutely fantastic... how much would you take for it
Today, I did not accomplish too much... Mom in Laws 80th, happy birthday to you, bye now! I did however get my distributor back in, and ran a bit of new fuel line. Need to sort out the top rad hose, and the routing of the spark wires. I think then it is time to get her back on the road. |
