Progress is progress, as long as its on the "Chev-a-dectomy-a-potomous-a-saurus-rex-da-dactile-orangeus-colorus-money-pitacus" , and not the self accelerating one!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Here are the updates! A couple of pics of progress.
Installed my flywheel and drained my torque converter some so I wouldn't be pouring out trans fluid everywhere. Pulled out the dusty transmission and cleaned it up (cleaned and painted months ago) and butted it up to the engine. After 4 trips to the auto supply store I finally got the right trans mount. Got it in the frame rails with no problems, only took about 40 minutes. Took my time so I wouldn't scratch the paint! The brake booster is going away and will be replaced with a hydrobooster to clean things up. All was well until I attempted to fit the headers........no fit, back to searching for some shorties. Just another pic for your viewing pleasure. And another. The weight of the engine lowered the front down about an inch so with everything on the front installed it should sit right where I want it. Note the pictures hanging on the back wall of the shop! Also installed the seat so I could do a little imaginary cruising!

Thanks Heath. It has been a long time just to get to this point, but worth it. Glad I slowed down on it to build it like I wanted.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
This pic shows how much the c-notch helped and how low it sits in the rear now. I am almost 5'11'' and the top of the cab sits level with my shoulder. Picture credit goes to my girlfreind Christy.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Looking great. Yeah, I was loading parts into my bagged longbed (sitting on the bagged frame) and it was so nice to be able to drop them over the side of the bedsides with no problem because it's so low....

Can't wait to gitter done!

Thanks for the compliments! When I have people like you and James and Heath saying that, it must be coming out alright for my first build. That scoop was a true brainfart, but I must say it was a cool idea and I thought it would be original. Gotta figure out a good way to attach it to make it look like it's "floating" on top of the motor.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
David, what are you using for an air cleaner. that will really make or break the bank for mounting it.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
I am using a 6.5 inch round Mr. Gasket that I will probably have to cut down about 1 inch (maybe). The scoop is about 2.5 inches from the top to bottom and the cleaner is about 4 inches tall. The scoop is about 14 inches wide. I am thinking of using a little longer stud for my carb and making 2 braces one for the front and back that will hold the scoop just about .25 of an inch above the air cleaner. Bolting it to the carb studs should be sturdy and installing and removing should not be too hard.
