Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Its UGLY! It looks like a rod bolt may have failed and started the carnage. The block may be usable but the crank, rods and pistons are junk. I have a new rotating assembly I just have to buy a block, pan, pump, balancer, flywheel, bigger hedders and bigger intake! I will be down for a while!

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
It appears that I had a bearing failure on number 4 rod bearing that led to all the carnage. I don't think it was a rod bolt. The rest of the bearings in the motor look fine. I don't think nitrous was a factor at all.

Just goes to show, a well built and maintained engine will take a BOATLOAD of abuse for a LONG time and never complain.

So much has changed since "back in the day" when not only the speeds & low et's of today were unthinkable, the availability of parts "just a far off dream" and not only the strength but also radical combinations of engine, induction & transmissions that can also be run on the "street" is beyond the "best wish" coming true. Is this a dream or what??? Sorry to hear about the engine but if there is any consolation in any of this to be found it appears you not only got your "money's worth" but you also maxed out the "fun meter"..... good luck with the new "build". Gassers on the Street !!!!!

Speaking of the "FUN METER" even though we are not going down the 1/4 mile anytime soon or doing much actual "building" we are still having fun collecting parts we need for our project .... so DJ, we'll be looking forward to seeing what you are going to offer for sale.

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Sorry to hear about the motor.
I was wondering if you could send me a few pictures, or information on the rear suspension set up you have. I know it is trailing arms with coilovers, but how is it all set up? I am looking at buying a truck with leafs, that wont cut it for me, and yours looks to be quite a bit better than stock. PM me, or post it if you get a chance. Thanks, Jared

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Its really pretty basic. The truck has stock trailing arms and it uses the longer qa1 coilovers behind the axle with an anti roll bar. It does have a stout 9 inch ford to take the abuse. Most of the pics I have are in this thread but I may have some on my other camera.
