Thanks bro !!

Well they finally started building the fire-wall in my shop...so everything has been moved over to make room for the contractors:
-
-
You can faintly see the snapped lines on the floor:
-

-
Here is the ridiculously overkill tube steel for the curtain door opening...the "architect" (sp) insisted on this:
-

-

-

-
Starting the studs...Hey theres my truck !!!
-

-

-

-
As you can see, I had to make tons of room for these guys, so I lifted my truck up and covered and parked the Vette under it.
-
-
The way I look at it...in the event of an earthquake...Do I want the truck to fall on the Vette, or the Vette falling on the truck ???

My buddy said "truck falls on vette, truck breaks vette, vette engine goes in truck !!"

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

Well its a long story, but here goes.....

My pops (father-n-law) gave me part of the building for my "John's Customs". He hooked me up with the lift, etc.

The building had many other rooms and a kitchen built for the office spaces. (previously built) At one time, they were actually living there.

From time to time, the fire dept. has to roll thru for their inspections (fire ext., electrical panel blockage, etc.) just routine stuff. Those guys were actually cool, and digged the stuff I was building....

Everything was cool untill this rookie bi#ch came thru and really nailed them...

Turns out, the previous owner built a bunch of s#it without permits....

One thing leading to another..and here we are. In order to keep the shop back there, a fire wall must be built seperate the "work area" from the storage from the showroom....All his classic cars are allowed to stay with less than 5 gallons of fuel, and the battery disconnected.

Just a bunch of Commifornia bull s#it....

But with wall in place....it actually gives me more space to work....which means more projects !!!!

"If you don't know, now you know !!"

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Yeap....everything you do need an inspection:

The metal studs go up...."Call the inspector!"

The sheetrock goes up on one side, then insulation....."Call the inspector!"

The sheetrock goes up on other side....Inspector says..."Go back and add more screws 12" or less apart in middle..and 7" or less along seems"

Special Fire chaulking, double rock in certain places...What a pain in the ARSE !!!!

Almost done...then the electricians come in and rewire everything back again. Finally, I'll get my 220 and all my 110's back !!

Brings back memories of having my shop built. The sheathing needed nails 3"apart in the corners 6" on the edges and 12" in the field.

Looking good, I know you can't wait to get your area back to yourself.

Re: Project "Rock-a-Billy".....Saga Continues.....

I need to come down and check it out for myself someday.
I am doing a bathroom for someone right now who has a car trailer. He said I could borrow it when I needed it and he also has friend that has a body shop and he rents out his spray booth on weekends. I am wondering how much he would want and maybe I could trade some work. Do some bartering...
