Well havin the old one done for me wouldn't be any more time since I have a guy willing to check it all out for me that I trust and ill be swapping the ENTIRE systerm motor/trans/driveline/and rear end so it'll e down for a while no matter what long as it gets done an I have time to test and tune by June ill be good. Just a matter of getting the loan for this all. An ill check out that site Shawn thank you

Okay I can see an obvious price difference from a good wrench long block from gm so what're are they doing just the fact that its remand factored drops the price that much? I like gm's 100,000 mile guarantee a bit more and the fact that it will be new. You know might as well go brand new if I'm already spending the extra

Here's another option -- get a 6.0L plus tranny used from LKQ with ~75-100k miles on it. Those things are good for a few hundred k miles and you couldn't ask for better efficiency. They are pretty much the new 350 in terms of enthusiast use.

Don't they run out to about 366+? So just less than a stroker. I probably won't go anything more advanced computer wise I want to stick carb for the look

Well looking more closely at the Crate motor from GM 350/290HP base add intake and carb and my goodies and viola done and happy

Also considering going through Bowtie Overdrives and mating their 700R4 and do a new crossmember and whatever else I need for the swap any opinions? I've seen alot of good reviews from them so I guess that's good was even recommended by the GM parts guy we know at a local dealership so that must be good

I have their "Tv made easy" kit on my truck for my 700r4. It's a nice kit and I've heard nothing but great things about them.

Not to throw in another wrench but if your worried about going modern with an LS, you can get a carb intake for an LS motor and keep it simple.... And if a company that builds engines that has been around for a while is using solid parts, and is offering a 5yr/50000 mile warranty like the west coast engines is going to be soild motor in my opinion for what it is worth.

Completely valid points my friend but I look at it this way if I'm going to have to spend my money I'd rather be for sure about it rather than be slightly worried I love a good rebuild and mine hasn't completely failed but its still a rebuild. Nothing against WestCoast I'm just picky in my own rights on this one. As for the LS I love the look of a new style are motor but I'm essentially reverting back to old tech so why spend the extra $ when I could have my simplicity in a bottle. I also checked out the carb setups and holy moly those intakes are $$$$$ so I figured I'd stay in my Stone Age on this truck since it'll be reverted back further when I do my factory paint job to it. Also looked at the small motor equivalent to my truck except a 2012 they get 14-19 city-highway I'm not too far off I was shocked by those numbers

That's something to live by right there I not discrediting new motors or even Adam's input which is great by the way I hope I didn't come off rude by my long post.

There is certainly a reason why the enhanced these trucks and have moved on from the old carb stuff but hey if I'm building a classic why not keep the theme nothin beats the look of a beefy naturally aspirated motor's air cleaner. definitely a plus being able to fix it myself if indeed a breakdown occurs god forbid on a long trip. plus I need something to keep me busy on the weekends when I finally "finish" this truck.

Maybe I'll go LS or even Dmax status when I do a pull rig actually that's a for sure on either motor for the next build

Also looking at a 4L60E because it's "recommended" by GM when doing their crate motor's any advantage over the 700R4's? Other than electronic vs. mechanical

I believe its the same tranny, but like you said one is electrical and will need a computer.

Gonna shop around an ask my local guy a few things and see what he could rebuild both for. Electrically the 4L60e would be nice to choose my shift points but 700r would be just fine as well
