That's what the guy I bought it from told me it came from. He rebuilds cars for a living, so I believe him.

And thanks to jchav62, he found me the hood.

Re: Old School Hot Rod Truck (1964)

Well after blowing up the T-5 two times after I posted this thread (about a month after) I installed a TKO 500. This thing is bad ass and I recomend it over the T-5. The guys at Hanlon motor sports were nice and knowledgeable. We even did some mixin and matchin on the parts I already bought for my 3550 5 speed. Didn't take pics on the install cause we did it at night. But the mid point shifter on the 500 would come out about where your stock 4 speed hole is,... if your engine is in the correct V-8 spot. I can take pics later if people want. Thats all for now. Just saving up for paint.. now in Florida by the way.. salt in the air is not good for this thing. Even with the rattle can paint I still have surface rust in some spots. Also.. what do people think of a big block.. I get 16mpg now .. whats 10 with a big block.. lol. Anyway did a quick search.. didn't find much.

A big block would be really cool if gas mileage isn't an issue. The old 55 in my avatar has a fat motor sitting under the gray tarp(I know, it's a small pic).

As for the rust thing, you are absolutely right. If there is bare metal it will start hazing overnight if it is in an open area.

Re: Old School Hot Rod Truck (1964)

Ok guys, I haven't been around in a while. I'm working on another project so I can take the truck off the road.. pull it all apart, and do the body work and paint it. That project would be a LS1 / T56 1987 Rx7. Ya I know, it's an import, but it'll be faster than a vet with a stock LS1. But I'm still workin on the truck. I rebuilt a couple of the gauge clusters, I'll post pics soon.

Re: Old School Hot Rod Truck (1964)

I drop kicked that old work bumper while I was in New Mexico.. So I'm still looking for the step side bumper, I'm going to paint it white just like the front one.

Some Pics.

It's all cracked and has some guys name scratched in it.. When I paint it, I'd like it to look almost new rather than ratty.

Re: Old School Hot Rod Truck (1964)

Ya, that camaro bar.. I spoke out of turn.. I couldn't find the link when I was working it.. so I gave up. I now see that I had to make a mounting point on the rear axle as well.. well maybe I'll find another bar someday and try again. Hardest part looks like the fab work.
