Yes - you could get them on a Suburban.

I ordered them on my '86 1/2 ton 2wd Company Suburban (sort of the "step dad" of my pickup truck). When they took that truck away I ordered the '87 pickup I have today.

Re: Another CL find - Street Coupe edition

The RPO for the forged wheels was PH7 ...I think 1978 was the first year ....not sure which year they switched to cast ...last year was 91 on the suburbans. They were clearcoated from the factory so to polish them you have to remove the clearcoat ....the forged ones come out better than the cast.
The truck ones were 15 x 7 ;the ones used on G vans looked similar but were 15 x 6 so you have to watch what you buy.

At some point were the cast and forged wheels available at the same time? Curious why they have 2 different option codes.

For tracking purposes (service, to keep from getting mixed stock in production during the transition, etc). They were not both available in production at the same time, other than the brief transition period.

Thank you; sounds right. I always forget about the G van stuff (...I'm so focused on C/K/R/V).

Very early (in the model year) build, too.

Thanks for posting that!

Re: Another CL find - Street Coupe edition

Thanks for that, too.

I may have mentioned I considered ordering a Sport Truck in 1980; I was pretty enamored with the body colored bumper and black rub strip.

I don't remember why, now, but chose to order a plain stepside instead -

I think you can see the "Sport Truck" influence, though.

Re: Another CL find - Street Coupe edition

Thought of you guys on Friday; I was at the GM Milford Proving Ground for a vehicle review. We met in the Bldg 70 garage and, as our host was speaking, I looked up and saw on the wall.....

...

....one of those (cast) aluminum wheels - cut in half (across the diameter) - being used as a hose rack!

I didn't get anything out of the whole rest of the meeting, because I was distracted trying to find the other half of that wheel!!

That's odd. We have wheels mounted at work being used for hose holding duty... but we left them whole

Re: Another CL find - Street Coupe edition

Hey everybody!
i'm new to the board and just picked up myself a 1980 street coupe for $850. It has a long way to go but i'm super excited on starting my first build so hopefully all goes well.

Here's a photo of it sitting in the seller's yard, its getting flat-decked to its new home on saturday.. (no engine)

I'm not 100% sure on the details of this truck i'll check the vin once i've got it

Re: Another CL find - Street Coupe edition

I looked at that truck but did not have time to go to Vancouver with a trailer to pick it up....all the unique parts are there ...you can contact me at z77@shaw.ca if you need any info ...I have 6 of these trucks in various stages of restoration.

The 80 street coupe previously listed from Tennessee has also sold to a local buyer...

If this was a fleetside I would have to have it when I was a kid there was two of these trucks a stepside and a fleetside in town and I loved the smooth box sides.

Re: Another CL find - Street Coupe edition

The truck was delivered today, i can't even express how excited i am.

On a side note...
The tow truck driver was a real dick, anybody in the Greater Vancouver area avoid using Casper Auto Carriers also known as Craftsmen Auto Carriers. I have nothing positive to say about my entire experience with these guys. From scheduling a pickup, getting a quote, having the vehicle strapped down, it was all bull****. ANNNND they charged me $70 above my quote claiming strapping down the vehicle because the vehicle did not have brakes and the hood would not latch shut was extra labor..

From the front it looks pretty rough. That rer view makes it all worth the effort. I love the styling on these trucks. Yeah it screams of the 80's but I'm cool with that.

Re: Another CL find - Street Coupe edition

I came across this on craigslist. I'm pretty positive it is an Indy hauler from studying the picture. You can see the faded color patterns that match up to the second picture. I tried to contact the sellers with no success. Someone got a super deal ($280). Hopefully the new owner knows what they have and they didn't part it out!

That is definately an Indy hauler. The bird and white headlight bezels are unique to the Indy.
