nice! have you tried to put on the a/c compressor yet? and how long is that new tranny? looks like the new crossmember is quite a bit forward away from that bend on the driverside framerail. i was worried about the 80e being so long that the mount would have to be on that bend. looks great man! cant wait to see mine sitting in there like that.

Griffin makes a direct fit radiator for our trucks that has the trans cooler built into it. $585

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRI-6-573AR-BAX/

You don't need the custom LSx car style custom built one with inlet & outlet on the passenger side. You can use the truck style long upper hose that crosses over to the driver side and use a standard configuration radiator.

The cross-member was custom made by the machine shop.
I don't think the bend is there anymore cuz i think they smoothed them out cuz i was under there was no bend and the frame had some work done to it i will ask about that for you menace cuz once i saw the trans was in i just didn't ask cuz and i got my self worried about something else as usual Hopefully the link might help you i know its comparison with 4l60 but that might give you an idea

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...80e-6l90e.html

I am not going to use the a/c compresor cuz i have to fabricate the frame and am i dont want to do that. I going to use the S&P bracket

Thanks 68 TT but my old one is nasty and i already figured it out and for something i going to buy new i want to get one that give it a really clean look. For somewhere around $700 I get a Radiator and Dual fans and a/c condenser its all esclade parts. They really look nice i don't want to show you guys until we get it on radiator support

Just found this build thread.
Wow!
What is your budget for this build?
$20k? You sure aren't scared to spend the cash.
I'll be watching this one!

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

FYI on the radiator, on my 86 when I swapped in the LT1 I measured the stock radiator and ordered a aluminum radiator from Summit. They have universal ones in various sizes, When I ordered mine they were less than 200 bucks. I made some brackets out of 1 inch angle aluminum. Late model Camaro fans bolt up to it like they were made for it. Use a stand alone trans cooler and you will have a bullet proof cooling system for cheap.
I'll go snap a pic, the radiator is out of the truck now.

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

Here you go, excuse the dust. By the way, the radiator is 31x19 overall. The core is about 26 inches. Leaves plenty of room for AC lines on the right side.

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

Update

Thanks Ceeten for info i already got mine figured out.

After alot of thinking i made up my mind on my exhaust design. I wanted something diffrent.

I made it that way cause i don't want the sound to be under the car.
The muffler will be more on the quieter side. I switched the side of the cutouts so it can flow more and gives me a nicer tone.
The exhaust tips will come out before the rear tires.

The radiator support

The esclade radiator with electric fans.

Custom made brackets we used esclade bushing is totally newer different design we got them just to complete the package.

We tried the esclade A/C condenser but i was kinda big so we went with universal one hopefully it wont be as hard to fit. Lower pic is brackets.

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

We got the new drive shaft. It was heavy and looked beefy.

I got the Posi-trac with 3.08 gears.

The old stuff is on the right and the new stuff is on the left.

New Battery bracket my old one was rusty. Corvette fuel filter on left and Bosch fuel pump on the right.

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

I would definitely just use the bungy cords to hold the radiator .

Seriously, it is coming along really smoothly. What made you choose a 3.08 gear, especially with that transmission?

I was wondering the same thing? I would have thought at least 3.73.

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

The 6L80 & 6L90 only have a 33% overdrive but their first gear is really low at 4.027 and second is almost the same as a T-400's first gear at 2.364 so the 3.08's will do fine.

It will have the equivalent first gear ratio of a T-400 running 5.00 gears.

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

Holy Crap! That is a short first gear. The Sierra Denali uses a 3.42 rear gear.

6L80e
1st Gear 4.027
2nd Gear 2.364
3rd Gear 1.532
4th Gear 1.152
5th Gear 0.852
6th Gear 0.667
Reverse 3.064

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

That's a heck of a jump from 1st to 2nd, but I now kinda understand the 3.08 gear. I still think I would have gone a bit steeper though .

Re: 79 C10 swap with L92 with 6L90

Thanks guys

The truck originally had 2.76 which i was going to keep but i was worried that it keep shifting between 5 & 6 with road waves so i thought 3.08 will be nice. If i feel that the truck is lazy i change sometime.

At 65 mph and assumed 28" tall tires you will be at 2046 rpm in 5th and 1602 rpm in 6th so I think it will probably stay in 6th on the freeway with the power that L92 makes. With shorter tires it will definitely stay in 6th.
