The tach LOOKS original anyway, the vacuum gauge looks like it may be aftermarket or dealer install. I bought the truck back in 1997 when I was 16 years old and put metric conversion stickers on the speedo so I wouldn't get a speeding ticket! I got rid of the truck and kept the almost mint seat, the gauge cluster, the mint chrome GMC grill, the 283 with power pack heads.

This is what an original tach looks like for at least the 1960 edition, I've also attached a few pic of the accessory catalog pictures for you referance to.

Re: Time to count GMCs

I forgot to add in the above post that I based my design on the last picture in the series, I simply replaced the lights with analog guages. I figured that I've spent way too much money on the engine to take a chance on burned out warning lights. The dash support plate you see and the custom incert aluminum billet will be painted the correct semi-gloss silver that is correct for GMC.

I believe I still have a decent 3 hole factory dash incert somewhere buried in the boxes along with the factory gauge cluster and wiring harness, I'll find them a good home I suppose one day.

Re: Time to count GMCs

Since we have a large number of GMC's here on the BB I wanted to take a minute and remind everyone that there is a National 60-66 GMC club. I'm sure some of you know of it, but I figured that some of the new guys didn't

Please join up, no fees and ton of history.

http://www.6066gmcguy.org/

The yahoo page is our BB.

^What Jake said! Great site for GMC only info. Be mindful though that the ONLY engine info they will discuss will be for the V-6's ONLY. Great group of guys and knowledge though.

Re: Time to count GMCs

Since we're on the topic of the V6, does anyone know how much space there is between the oil pump and the bottom of the pan? I'm in the process of bagging my 63 and the oil pan hangs about 3.5" to 4" below the frame. I was hoping we could section the pan some so we wouldn't have to raise the motor so much.
