How HOT is that when the truck is up to temp and one should check the transmission levels?

It's not for trans fluid, it is for engine oil.

Is the revised dipstick & tube part no. gonna be ed-5008? Or is there a new part no.for this tube & stick.
I just spoke with John Impy at Lokar and he is sending me a newly designed oil dipstick tube that will go just behind the #2 spark plug and in between the exhaust tubes. Very reasonable and knowledgeable guy. I will post pics after I have it installed. Also, thanks to Hart Rod for persuing this as well.

Here is a better pic of the new Lokar engine oil dipstick installed on my 6.0. John at Lokar said that he might make the part # ed-5008-dt.

How can I order one. Do I cantact John at Lokar directly? Can I get a contact number or Email address? This is one thing I have been waiting on to finish my truck.

Re: Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

The dipstick that we are currently working on for the LS series truck motors are not going to be a ED-5008. We are currently working on getting these into production with a new part number. We do not have a part number created at this time. The dipstick is not finished. We will be sure to post on the board as soon as we are into production. At that time you can contact the Tech department. Lokar Performance Products @ (865) 966-2269 John Impy Lokar Performance Products.

Re: Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

Terrific John!!! Outstanding. I'm already subscribed to this thread and as soon as you have a p/n, I will change it on the instructions.

BTW, I took someone else's word that the ed-5008 would work. As an R&D man, I should have known better than that.

Thank's for getting it straight John.

Re: Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

I just installed my ED-5021 dip stick on my 04 LQ9 with the 324y headers. the mount and outer housing fit fine. Now for the stupid question, the dipstick will not go past the curve where the housing bends and goes into the base that goes into the block? Does the end have to be bent slightly or? I got it late today so i plan to call Lokar tomorrow unless someone on here has a simple fix.

Re: Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

Mine goes in just fine. No binding at all. It even reads very accurate. I have attached a pic of how mine is mounted. Maybe yours is just mounted in the wrong spot. Just a thought...

well figured it out after talking to the guys at lokar. just needed some adjusting on the first bend coming out of the block and a lil oil on the dipstick and all is good. Adjusted the mount to get a air gap between tube and headers it works great. Thanks everyone!

Re: Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

This was beginning to sound like a Laural and Hardy thread, who's on first...The old dipstick can be modified to work for those that don't like the bling, or those that like making old things work. Just bent tube a little farther out and modified made bracket. Bracket Will have to be shortened some as I found out 2 weeks ago it makes removing AC evaporator housing difficult as is. Good luck. Jim
