Re: 1978 Suburban

Thanks Guys. I drove it home from Podunk, Va. About 40 miles away. It started quickly with 3 pumps of the gas. It started an exhaust leak on the way home and the wipers suck. It needs some sortin but I'm afraid to put any soap and water on it at the moment. I drove it home on the gas it had in it and it did great! I dont wanna drive it anymore because i can't get emotionally attached. BTW, it managed 11.25MPG on the way home.

Re: 1978 Suburban

Easy to tell if the miles are right... Just look at the rear u-joint on the driveshaft. Green plastic = orginal miles. Replacement u-joint = not. This is right about 90% of the time.

Old school trick on the wood grain... Creamy peanut butter. Won't fix the cracks, but should make it look darker and it lasts awhile.

BTW I vote for keeping it at least as orginal driver if nothing else.

Re: 1978 Suburban

I would leave it looking exactly the same, but bolt up some big wheels and dump it on the ground.

I'm a sucker for that look.

Re: 1978 Suburban

Well, I'm subscribed to the forum and have advertised the truck. We'll see what how does. So I guess now that Im subscribed I can ask you guys what you think its worth. I looked all over to come up with a price to settle on and I dont think I'm askin too much, especially for the overall condition.

Re: 1978 Suburban

I ended up buying the truck from Nick, drove it 2.5 hours from home in traffic and it ran great. Looking forward to fixing a few things and driving it, don't know if I can handle filling the 40 gallon tank at $4 a gallon though!

Re: 1978 Suburban

Good to see you made it back in one piece! I had great confidence in the trucks ability to make it but you never know! Give me a redirect if/when you start a new thread!
