Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

in my 86 i could go till the needle came back to 0mph but she is scary at that speed going down interstate 95 in mass. racing a ford f350 i left him miles back. would guess around 130?? she didnt have anything left when i got out of it that is with a 3/4 ton with sm465 5200lbs of holy ****. talk about dumb. my 78 monte when i lived in az interstate 10 had to be as fast as she would go with the 2.73 and the 350 trans and motor wound out tight that was not fun. she gets lose to put it nicley. and i have top out a 85 honda v65 magna. 173 mph i stopped looking after 135 and still had to more gears to go more like 180 or more. i will never ever do that agian ever. young and dumb now i have a kid to rase my fast days like that are over.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

well the daily driver charger I have will do 150 with ease.. Gotta love the 3.08 rear gear.. My truck 120 is as far as the old speedo would read.. again most of my stuff is not strip type so the top gear is big, the truck is running a 3.91 gear with .64 OD in 5th.. leaves a ton of room for big MPH.. on a safe off road area or course.. On the street that would be un safe.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

This thread made me realize how careless I have been in my life...

55-60 is as fast as I have had my '87, though...

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

Back in the 80's in HS I use to street race with Mom&Dads 77 2wd 454 1/2 all the time. That old truck won me a lot of races It would do just over 100mph in the 1/4 mile. It would eat up 5.0 Mustangs all day long. That old Silverado had alot of top end speed for a truck. I could dam near twist the speedo needle back to zero

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

The 68? about 85 when I went to pass someone. The 3 speed does not like to go fast haha. The s10 is limited to 98, so naturally 98. My motorcycle got me up to 80 which is plenty fast on a bike for me. Fastest ever was 120 in a 1993 nissan 240sx with stock brakes and tires. That right there was a bad life decision. Every once in a while I like to romp on a car, but never near anyone else. There is a 2 mile long service road the farmers use near me that gets the job done whenever I feel the need to go fast.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

The fastest I've had my '64 GMC was 65 mph! Didn't want to push the 305 V6 and Muncie Trans too much, but I have been clock at 204 MPH without nos and 228 MPH with nos on a '08 Hayabusa.

Im not into going fast any more. just want to cruise low 'n slow in my '64 bucket.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

speed is a relevant thing. On a very flat, straight 4 lane stretch of Interstate 100mph can feel very slow. On a tight two lane county road it can feel..... much faster.
With 3.73 gears,P275/60 15 and 1:1 4th my truck will put the speedo needle onto the "p" at the bottom of gauge's MPH very quickly, and will continue to still pull once shifting into the .68 5th gear. Doing the math my C-10 has done an honest 111.6 mph. That is 4th redline. After getting of my CBR1000RR, that only weighs around 450lb, and has real breaks, and handles well. 111 in my old C10 "feels" pretty darn quick

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

I got my 86 SWB up to about 110mph on the Dutch Autobahn leaving Amsterdam in 1988...

Got over into the fast lane, and trimmed the bushes in the median...

Nothing that tall had EVER been in the fast lane...

For some reason, my locker "LOCKED" when we pulled off to get some go juice...
Overheated, I guess, it was fine 20 minutes later...

If you want to stop traffic in Europe, drive a fullsize RED C10...especially with 10.50's on the front, and 12.50's on the back...
