Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel
Nice job, I admire your efforts to restore a square body from so far away from it's origin. I enjoyed going through your thread and seeing the progress.

I agree. You did one heck of a job on this considering what you had started with. The paint is spectacular, I love it. What shade of red is that? What did you think of PPG's paint? I have never used it before but am considering it for my truck. Fantastic work!

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel
Thanks guys! That shade is RAL 3003, it was exactly the same as the original apple red..
PPG is ok, cant compare to others as I have no experience, but nothing to complain! And the paintjob is ok for a daily driver, there is a bit dust here and there, but will polish up nicely when I have time. Thanks again for the comments!! |

I have driven over 600 miles in couple weeks, no problems whatsoever.. Finally got the side trim and trim rings for the wheels, pics later as there seems to be some kind of problem with photobucket..

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel
I have been driving everyday to railway station and home, enjoying the ride. Only problems that I´ve had, were with front brakes (had to put calipers to pieces and new seals, new rotors, pads, and the bolts, and new bearings at the same time) and turn signal relay stopped working.. I have also measured fuel consumption, at its best I have calculated 11 litres /100km and worst 12.5 litres/100km.
Yesterday I drove over 100 miles to get new winter tires, they were new with new wheels, they have been years in container and hence the surface rust in the wheels.. |

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel
I really like those rims, been looking for those with an eight bolt pattern for a long time. I have these on my truck now but with 6 bolt. Still can't believe what an amazing truck you have there now.

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel
Thanks for the comments! I already have plans for next summer, i am going to replace the rear bumper with a new one, and renew the carpet in the cabin, and my wife gets to replace the vinyl side of the bench. And of course better dashboard top..
It works so unbelieveably well, that I would think it will go on for ever.. |

Re: 1987 R10 Scottsdale Diesel
Best improvement so far for the truck:
Installed new 5kw eberspacher hydronic diesel heater which can be turned on with a mobile phone.. I also have electric block heater, but cant use it at work, and its freezing cold weather.. Oh, and I bought an intake manifold from a CUCV, so no more EGR-valve when I get it installed. I also got to know a guy who works with 6.2 Diesel pumps almost every day, and he is going to tune up my pump while the intake manifold is off.
