Plenty of 800hp big blocks beating up these transmissions

If I'm seeing 200r4s going 8s in regales and still driven street dutie week in week out its good enough for me lol

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

It seems that 12s in our trucks is using motors that usually have passenger cars doing 11s.
Weight and aerodynamics play into our factors here

A fiberglass hood and a tonneu cover can help a lot as well as just getting rid of meat all around. Our front "girder beam" suspension is built to destroy anything it hits but is also a good 250lbs! Our bumpers and hoods are silly heavy and the tailgate is 80lbs itself. No consider we are shaped like a brick hous or the side if a barn. The odds are against us. Our engines have to be bigger and stronger. A chipped newer silverado will give us all a run for our money these days.

The squarebodys are heavy, but not as bad as I would have thought. My 85 longbed weighs 4020 without the spare tire and about 5 gallons of gas in it. Iron head smallblock with a/c, and all the other accessories.

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

200r4 are not the same as 700r4s. I have seen too many 700r4 issues to even consider running one(personal experience). The amount of money it takes to get a 60e up to the task of handling big power is better spent on a 80e in my opinion.

Here's food for thought. Atmospheric pressure is about 14.7psi I belive

And 1/2lb fuel=1hp/hr

thanks insidious, and most of all some one in our military.
I really like the 6.0 liters. They can connect to a TH350 with no problems, and it has the GM corperate 4.00 inch bore (I know it gets annoying about the 4.00 bore engines) but if i turbo charged the iron brute and throw 500 ft lbs and 500 hp stock block then i say me and ole quick silver acomplished something easy

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

I like the way you are thinking. Yes they bolt up to a th350 just fine, I have done it in my truck.
My advice is to look for a 2004 or newer iron block because they came with a little bit better rod. If you are going to replace the internals then it doesn't matter what year.

Yea did some research on these a while back with the only truck engine LQ4 6.0 liter LS that stood out at me. i like how everyone was putting them in front of Th350s and bolting em right up. Hell with these cubes, and the old 350 block out, certainly even carbed and iron heads, right out of the salvage yard should have some really good pep stock, and then when i do my LS3 head swap and turbo it should be pretty nice

A LS swap is on par as far as $$$ with a 383 build.

mines a baby cam lq9 with full bolts and tune 373s makes 370 to the wheels and runs roughly 12.7s with a very tight stall on drag radials, I will be running a 4000 stall cal tracs, slick and 150 shot should bring down well into the 11s

running an LS with all bolt ons? and getting that? sounds like those hotrod magazine gurus werent right about 500 hp at the fly wheel with just a cam swap, dang , id try 2500 stall, with balloon plates, make sure it has those plates, some converters like to come apart with the nitro or other sorts of boosting on N/A Engine

i could see 500hp with cam and heads, a 2500stall would be way to small

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?

I went 11.82 in the truck in my avatar. Its a 496 with a set of mild ported 781's with, stock valves. It has 10.3 comp with a solid flat tappet cam and a gasket matched 70's torkerII and a 950hp. It also has Hooker super comps and 3" side exit exhaust with 40 series flowmasters. I'm running a TH375 with an ATI manual valvebody and a Jeg's 10" 3400 stall converter. On that pass I was running a 10 bolt with 3.73's and a rebuilt stock posi. I'm getting a 9" together with 4.11's a detriot locker for 35 spline axles. I have 275/60/15 BFG drag radials on it. With the 9", I'm going to put 325/50/15 M/T drag radials. I've also got Camaro coils in the front and, I cut out 4 of the 6 plies on the leaf springs. I also made up my own caltracs too as well as, Comp Engineering drag shocks at all four corners. I don't understand why some of the guys in this thread are saying that, faster than 12's in these trucks is crazy. My truck was very stable on all of the passes I made that day.
