Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Got a few details done and swapped the rear end out with a more modern 67 set up. Finishing up lokar, throttle linkage and carb tomorrow before the heat wave then just have the 12v conversion and wire up the starter and HEI.
Wife started the races at the track again. Waaaay better than wanting a new purse.

I sold my 2010 Harley Tri Glide last October and just bought a 2014 Nissan 370 Z. Love it.

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Ever feel completely relieved that you figured out a problem even after searching several online resources with no luck? 1950 216 truck, 1967 250 w/th350 and a webber carb with push up style linkage. I grabbed a 67 and up reverse pull firewall pedal linkage and used the 250 bellcrank with custom length adjustable rods. I had to heat and bend the cab side pedal rod to glide against the back of the original pedal ( was a pin mount style). Spent a few bucks on reverse jesus clips and a cotter pin but overall extremely happy yhat this mental jenga game is over!

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Nice truck ... but ... the road king, softail & the ski supreme boat are off limits ... I'd trade off the my e36 but doubtful on my e30.
There you have it ... love the truck but I'd save cash to get it. That's how I ended up with all the other toys I've bought & paid for. |

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
I found the holy grail! A GM stock wrecking yard driveline that fits exactly when you do a 250/TH350 swap. Those who have done the engine swap know that the 250 will only sit in one spot and run the stock mechanical fan without hitting the fire wall or the radiator, a th350 will only fall in one spot after the engine. When mounting a newer axle assembly and placing it off set like the factory, a 1978 NOVA driveshaft works perfect.
. Also cleaned up the buckets, plugs etc and swapped the rest of the bulbs to 12v

A little more wiring, a starter button hidden under the dash and some fluids.

Funny thing is I never thought this was a build thread just a conversation piece about selling Hogs! I purchased an old yellow track prepped Suzuki TLR1000 from EDR performance in Hillsboro back in 2003. Thing was a rocket! Rode it around Portland with the crotch rocket crowd for 8 months. Ended up going to 3 good friends funerals all from bike wrecks, Sold it and moved into a 2003 carb'd Nightrain, sold that for an 87 FXR, great handling bike for American iron. Sold the FXR to fund my 57 project. |

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Not going to sell a bike. I've got more old Harleys than old trucks. Got an '82 FLT with a 92" stroked Shovel motor, an '87 FLT converted to a Road King look alike and my wife has an '85 Evo Superglide.
Got a '61 F-100 shop truck and my wife's '54 Chev Panel, but our daily drivers are a pair of '94-'95 Wranglers. Thinking about selling the '89 Sportscoach to fund some work on the Panel and the '87 FLT, but not at the stage of selling bikes yet. Youngest kid is almost 30, so no worries that way. House'll be paid for in a year and a half, then I can do what I want with my money.

The 82 stroker sounds like a great Milwakie Vibrator!

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
I normally get into these projects in the winter time. Cooler temps and mostly rainy days make for a good time to wrench on old iron. Well after cutting my tendon on my rt hand and inner shop temps over 100 I finally have put some miles on the old farm truck and getting alot of thumbs up. The 250/350 combo purs like a kitten and runs out smooooth. The 32 36 webber isnt a barn burner and if I do it again I would go with a clifford and a edlebrock or small Holley so you could run a cable throttle and hook up the kickdown cable. The 2bbl seems to be soft of fuel but also soft on performance. A great grocery getter evening driver and a daily mpg miser. The seat feels awesome and the burlap under the cotton batting trick will be used again! Im still suffering through getting a previous oe fuel gauge that worked on 6v to now work on 12v with a new gauge?? Im a nut and bolt see it and fix it guy. I know electrical is like a garden hose....voltage in and voltage out but its stumping me. Anyway, we all like pics right?
