Here's the one to use to drill the inner hole, using the drillbit hole as a starting guide...

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Looking at it from outside, this is what you should arrive at. Now, just do the same for the RH side! I use Delphi 1.5" wire grommets on my window/lock replacement harnesses and they are slightly different than the OEM GM grommets but fit just as well!

The grommets insert from the inside toward the door and are held centered in place by the inner hole, then they transition into the door jamb boots which will get attached once we are ready to actually run the accessory harness.

This is the view of the routing for the alternator leads, the 2 electric fan temp switch triggers, idle stop solenoid run and the new battery charge wire which comes from the firewall junction and extends down the front of the motor behind the AC compressor before eventually routing beneath the motor mount and extending to the starter.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Fiddle farted around a little bit on this 77....got the delay/pulse harness half routed-I also decided on using a newer 79+ ground buss to make it easier to add grounds for the extra features this truck will have-(tach ground, power window ground, delay wiper ground).

Still need to enlarge the wiper switch opening-I need to get the motor started so the truck can move again so that's the priority....WIRING!

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Firewall junction with all the added power runs. The sealed fuse holder is a 10ga lead which will feed the electric fan relay bank on the core support as well as the integrated relay upgrade for the headlights.

not sure why image is sideways....lol

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Got a little more done on the 77 this weekend....we had a family bar-b-que and I couldn't stand looking at the truck without doing something while waiting for some food so....

....here's a quick shot of the 81-up style power door lock relay mounted to the left of the accelerator pedal bracket.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

If you look behind the ebrake bracket you can see where I route the NEW power window/lock/mirror harness just like factory 81-up trucks do.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

So this pic has a back story....my father in law decided after I had refinished a pair of standard manual door panels for his originally plain jane optioned 77 GMC that he wanted to have power windows and locks after seeing my various express down/up installs on other trucks-so I said fine....I'll build an 81-up style harness for use with your 1977 fuse panel, I'll add a few more circuits and you just need to source nice power doors.....easy right?

Well, he picked up some rust free 1991 Suburban doors and now he wants to add power mirrors! So after already routing the window/lock harness, I needed to add a mirror harness seperate-(usually I integrate all 3 options into a single harness run) but for those of you who may like to add power mirrors to your truck and don't need a new window/lock harness, you can simply drill a 7/8" hole directly above the factory grommet for the window/lock door harness and run the mirror harness out through there and into the door boot.

Basic door shell layout of my window/lock harness with wiring protected in heat resistant looming-nobody else can offer as high of quality harnesses as what I can provide.

Re: 1977 High Sierra ole farm truck

Yeah so several years ago my father in law had a "body guy" put rockers and cab corners on his truck and at the time I thought it was odd this body guy never requested him to bring the doors he planned to use....truck was pretty crusty and after bolting on a set of GM doors for the helluvit this is what we get-yep....I get to cut this **** all off and re-do it myself.

That's exactly the reason why we hate relying on anyone anymore, what a PITA having to redo someone's crap work.
