I locked it in the beginning to allow me an opportunity to get current with the build. This thread took off so well, I just havent opened the other one up.

Larry unfortunately certain features are bundled on the forum. If we allow users to lock their own threads, they can "edit" them too. Yes, I know it would be nice to be able to edit an old thread. We had a problem with members getting upset by others and deleting FAQs and other important posts. It was decided to no longer allow that option.

And that reason, along with several other forum notions, is precisely why I decided to stop supporting the forum after 8 to 10 years of doing so and author tech articles and build/tech threads on other websites. Perception is reality and a mod/admin locking a personal build thread when normal members can’t is more poo.

Been looking at this log on now for over 3 years

I'm sorry if it offends you Larry. As mentioned, I locked it till I could get time to bring the background story up to date. I planned to unlock it after that, but this thread started growing so I didnt.

Trust me, the Executive Staff lamented over the decision to restrict editing, and even reinstated the option at one time. After being burned several times, it was removed again.

I wouldn’t say I’m offended. It just further verifies the culture here. Unlikely that I am the only one with this thought, maybe just the only foolish one to bring it up. No biggie, carry on………

Thanks for the kind words. I played with it this weekend and managed to get it better. I used the cluster that bustedknuckles aka Harveys Hack Shack loaned me to determine what my readings were. Both tanks are full, but they read differently. I will assume thats a variance in resistance from the sending units. I will check that later, but I wanted to get the dash back together.

After I marked the two readings. I created a tool using the handle of a foam brush to lift the needle off without damage. I adjusted the needle till it read like the gauge from the temporary cluster. Im comfortable with what I have now, until I can drive it some and monitor how it reacts.

Amusing perspective, but no my daughter didnt live in the garage. Her Hummer took up a pretty big chunk of space though.

Something I noted in the limited amount of seat time I have had in this truck is the vent window leaks terribly. Big surprise, right? I can tell that all of the gaskets in the windows were replaced when the truck was repainted. Unfortunately the vent window seals were not.

Having heard great things about Precision Replacement Parts from several sources including many of the top builders I decided to check them out. I got a call from Derek at Precision Parts and we had a lengthy chat about their product. Even though they sell everything for the do it yourself-er, he encouraged me to send my vent assemblies in and utilize their professional recondition services.

Not to stir the pot but nobody else has the ability to lock their build threads so I dont really see the reason for a mod to do it other than because he can. Again, not trying to stir the pot, just explain where Larry is coming from maybe. I honestly dont care either way but some may perceive it as abuse of power.

Thanks! I had to compromise between form and function. If I had better metal fabrication skills, I would have built the speaker box from light gauge steel and made it more flowing.

Just mentioning it because it apeared that maybe you didn't quite understand why someone would question why you locked your build thread when nobody else is able to do that. Again it doesn't really matter to me but it might to some.

Looks good. A dual function box. I think when it's done it will look good & be subtle.
Also, the styling & with the factory grille it will make it look factory to most eyes.
