It runs! Got it fired up last night. It had a bit of a fuel leak from the return line on the pump but was a pretty clean startup other than that. I need to get a fan on it and get it up to the exhaust shop, make an adjustment to the throttle cable and I should be able to go for a spin.

Trying to get exhaust on this thing is going to be a challenge. I’m solving that with a new crossmember. A big thumbs up to Summit Racing. One of the header flange gaskets was manufactured poorly. I contacted them and a new set is on the way. No questions asked.
The hood is on. I’ll have the crossmember later this week. I’m ready to drive it. |

Any chance of getting a pic of where/how you have your trans vacuum line hooked up to the motor? I'm trying to figure out where I want to hook mine up to. |

I used the stock hard line and the stock fitting in the stock location on the new intake. 😂

Thanks for posting that. I had to make mine as the previous owner did not have a tube, it was plugged off and I was looking for a good place to put it. I also need to run a line from my brake booster to that port, so I guess I need to be looking for a 'T' fitting instead of the 90* I have right now.

It is a wonderful motor. I am really glad that I took the time to do things right and use good parts.
The motor is smooth. There is a nice lope to at idle and it is pretty stout. I'm not much for "break in rules" so I've jumped on the skinny pedal a couple of times up to about 3/4 throttle. It will burn the tires as long as you keep your foot down. I am guessing that it will be very happy when I swap the rear end for the Dana 60 with 3.54 gears. The 4.57 or whatever is in it now revs too high and the tires boil pretty easily. So far, I am very happy. |
