69 C30 CustomCamper House/Car as they called them back then.
Bought in October 11, 1997 for $1600 49,000 original miles

Re: When did you buy your truck and how much?

My father bought the truck (68 SWB Stepside) in 94 for $5000. It had just been painted and fresh motor.

I have now exceeded that figure by almost 4 times in the last 6 months

Re: When did you buy your truck and how much?

About 20 years ago. I found it in the back of an Agricultural Magazine. "Old Farm Truck $750" I went out to look at it and he drove it out of his barn/chicken house. Muffler was rotted away, it needed tires and a tuneup. I mentioned it looked like it needed a lot of work. Is there any room to dicker?

"What were you thinking?"
"$500 Cash money, in my pocket, right here, right now"
"I think you just bought yourself a truck"

1971 GMC. It had a 307 in it until I broke the timing chain and bent every lifter in it. It now has a 305 in it. Had the transmission rebuilt 15 years ago, Cost me $400. It needs another rebuild. It sounds like a handful of pebbles in a soup can. Motor could use some work as well as it burns a little oil.

Until this past Saturday it had spent the last year to year and a half sitting in the trees. The battery was dead and would not hold a charge. All the brake and transmission fluid had leaked out and the gas tank sending unit is toast. I topped off all the fluids and replaced the battery, a little starter fluid and it started right up. All the critters who had taken up residence inside were not very happy. We took it to the car wash, vacuumed out all the mouse and chipmunk debris, washed the mud and dirt off the glass then drove it across town to have lunch.

Great place for a spare mount. I bet you could push-start cars with that.

that's a lot of money to invest, but certainly you will get it back if you were to sell it.

I felt lucky to get mine for $6500 in 2012 - bought it in Idaho and drove it home to Vancouver WA without an issue. It has always ran great..

Did you see that post on Facebook of the guy that purchased the black SWB in Tennessee and drove it back to Washington state a couple weeks ago? Insane!

We have an insane member here, Chevyland. He bought a survivor SWB Cheyenne Super and drove it back to Sonoma, CA...and not a straight shot. He and his son took many diversions, such as running up to OR or WA to pick up a seat for it.

I bought this '71 Cheyenne Custom Camper w/camper, 1 owner from Nissan dealer, for $3k on election day '88. In June '89 we took a vacation to Grande Canyon and other points of interest in the S/W. Many many camping trips in that rig

Stock or modified?
'69 K10 (see details in my sig)
Fall '93 - coming up on 30 years.
Modified. I bought it with a tired late-model 305, which I jerked out to make room for the family pet 327. I replaced the dash cluster with a '67 version to give my a hand choke. I needed a replacement bed so went with a longstep. Otherwise nearly bone stock.

Re: When did you buy your truck and how much?

This is my truck. Purchased in the mid 80's from a good friend for $ 2500 who got it from the orig owner from Texas. I've used this truck as designed for many years and it's now getting the attention it deserves after all the use.

Re: When did you buy your truck and how much?

I have a 1970 C10 that was given to my Dad for free in 1999 with no motor. He gave it to me for my first vehicle and helped me get a 350 sbc. We rebuilt it and got it running. Over the 20+ years, Ive kept working on it and have it currently looking like this.
