Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Went over to Martin's early this morning as Nicola was off to visit her daughter in Buckinghamshire for a couple of days.
He needed to move a load of stuff in his garage and shed, including getting his V8 and gearbox out the way, and then getting the straight six from his truck and it's gearbox out to the front of his carport for Über Cool, Andy to collect next weekend for his truck build. I took my new to me, steering wheel and column with to test fit/offer it up to his upside down cab to see if it will fit. So after the engines and sheds were sorted, we tried it out. My current Moon style wheels rim and boss are both 9" from the dash edges. The new one is 11" away, so I will need to do a bit of thinking around the best solution for form and function when I get to fitting it. While I was there, Martin ripped the airbag and it's ring and wiring out as well. When I got home I cleaned it all up, much improved. So now the steering wheel and it's airbag bits can get sold as I do not want a modern wheel on my truck, still need to figure out what splines the column has and see what adaptor I may have to fit to get a new steering wheel fitted. I personally like the older style stuff and love my Moon style that is deep dished and will be removed. One of the things we realised this morning was that the small plastic cover behind the light and indicator stalk is missing. Aaaaaaarrrgghhh !!!! This means I now need to find one from somewhere, and one would expect most columns to come with them fitted, so not many about to buy or scavenge. Anyway, if anyone knows where, or has one...... Please let me know.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Got 2 more 16.5 spare mud tires for the 65 for 20 bucks from another member. Incase I blow out my current spare on a trail or something. AND (I know it's not a truck) but i got a 4 bolt main 327 roller motor that runs like a raped ape from my coworker for the price of helping him install his new motor in his 70s 4x4 land cruiser. He's going LS and didn't want the 327 Anymore.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Well after getting back from a car show today I decided to get a little truck time in .
I managed to get both of the right side cab supports in Once I had done the front one I tackled the rear one . A little harder to fit due to having to trim and fit it up to the front to rear brace and having to drill the holes to bolt it to the inner rocker And the last picture showing the penetration inside

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Took it for a nice 20+ mile cruise. Thing ran flawlessly...minus a squeaky wiper and a leaky windshield and no front turn signals(who cares right?). 2500 rpm is optimum highway cruising for that thing. Love it!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Not a lot to the truck, but while stripping a donor bike......
One of the nice things we discovered about the tail end of the little bike is that it will also be donating its number plate bracket and light to the truck...... You see, every Chevy needs a little Honda in its life. Thanks must as always go to Martin for coming over and creating havoc in my life, but also keeping me company and taking the lead on the stripping of the bike, he has clearly done this a few times before, and it may point at a very misspent youth......... Only he will know.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I got a call earlier today to say my wheels were ready for delivery back home.
So when I got in, there was a rather awesome pile of gifts waiting for me. I think that going from this...... I am in awe at the finish. Along with my exhausts antisocial thuggery, the eye searingly red rims and white hot new chrome, this project promises to look pretty decent as long as I do the body work justice. Next job will be to source four decent 235/75-15 tyres. I think I may have found some..... From Germany, a set of four, delivered for £306.00 If anyone has a better option, let me know.
