73-74 Charcoal bench seat. This one went to California, but it’s the last seat that I’m shipping.

I have a Seat belt Question

Is there a Vendor that sells the Center seat belt sleeves?

The plastic pieces that crumble apart.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Even on the belts I restore, 80% of them are cracked or broken. I get pretty excited when I have a set that they are still intact. Most of the time it’s the top section up by the buckle. I just cut that section off and then clean up the cut. If you look at some of the belts I have done on the Seat belt thread, you can get an idea of what I mean. It used to really bother me that I had to cut that off, but it doesn’t anymore. The buckles actually lay better on the seat with that too section cut off. Here’s an example

Does anyone sell the oval seatbelt grommets, or should I just look in a salvage yard?

Do you have any more of this fabric, or know where it can be purchased? I managed to find the correct vinyl, but I'm having some difficulty finding that color cloth. There appears two be two different colors of cloth in your image. I'm looking for the color of the pleats. It's the slightly more golden color.

I went to the local supply store and their sample said it's Empress 674-86. Out of the Detroit Auto Fabrics book. I think the 86 part might be the year, although my truck is 87.

Thank you

This is the cover I offered up to you awhile ago. The reason why it looks like 2 different colors, is because the center section is done in a solid, and the rest is the pattern. This is how the originals were done, all the colors in fact. And the color is the same on the 81-87’s, it’s SaddleTan.

Couple of things.
The sleeves in question are for the 79-87 belts. The previous year, the sleeves are straight, they don’t have all the curves & twist. But the twist is a pia in my opinion anyways. If it’s not on there, the belt lays nicely on the seat.
1) why would you cut the sides and resew?
2) why do the twist?
If you going to try them, try and use them without doing all the modifications.

I did just get a set of gray. I have a set of belts that are getting changed to the light gray color, so I bought a set to try out. Hope it’s not a waste of money. But I’ll update, but over on the seatbelt thread instead of this thread, since this thread is for the Benchseats.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Have a question for you. My seat slider on the right side doesn't lock in place. It constantly moves, and someone recommended tightening the wire between the sliders. How would I do that? The sliders are oiled, so there's no binding, and they don't look damaged in any way.
Thanks
My truck is an 84 Sierra 2500, stock bench seat

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

First the question quote was on the seat, so I just keep place. Two site like the factory for feeding the belt throw. if you wanted copy factory set. and because 81-87 there two different styles I not sure I would because I do not have many people in cab for the one center belt the twist is nice that person try buckle up. Third the sewing is for the belt to the sleeves of the LMC like the factory did to hold it.
Now I believe the LMC bucket seat sleeves may be longer may have to have the bottom cut you can't see any how.
In your second pic is what the LMC sleeves most like which it the later style.
So, you have order them I have had a chance yet. very Kool I would like you thoughts on them, I still going to order them.

Oh, for the center you still have to make a straight cut if you want it like the factory did to lay out face to right way if you have more than two people.

Your probably missing the little spring on the back of the tracks. They are circled in red.
Now the wire between the 2 tracks, you don’t want to tighten that up. All that will do is keep the locks in the open position. All the wire does is pull the locks open to slide the seat when you pull the seat adjuster handle. It does need to be fastened to the frame in one spot to take up the slack. That’s the second photo.

This is the is the Benchseat thread. I do have a Seatbelt thread, but I’ll answer this. If your looking for new belts, those would be aftermarket belts, but I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. They are ugly and don’t work very well. You have said numerous times that you can’t afford a new cover, so new seatbelts are going to be more than what a new cover costs.
If you have your original belts, I can restore them, that is what my Seatbelt thread is all about. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out.
