Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I wanted to upgrade my audio to include hands free phone operation so I installed a new stereo under the dash. It's called a Media player because all it has is AM/FM and no CD. It has a USB port so I can use a memory stick to play all the music I can handle. Now I won't have to bother with CD's anymore.
The hands free for the phone is really a nice thing. The pictures are lousy quality because of the lighting and use of phone camera but if you look just above the new stereo, I attached a "Chevrolet" script emblem. I think it looks pretty cool there. The only thing that bugged me was the LCD display was very hard to see when driving in the daytime so I also dark tinted the rear window. It did the trick and also keeps the cab cooler. |

GACK !
I' pleased to see you're tackleing this , 'A' Pillar repairs are tricky to say the least . Maybe I should save my old cab and cut it up for repair panels ? . I *may* have found the elusive 100 % rust free cab in Texas , we'll see .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Wow! So that's what I have to look forward to....an "A Pillar" repair job...
I called the radiator shop and told them not to coat the outside of my gas tank.....I rather like the shiny look of the tank as it is. *That is one BEAUTIFUL yellow truck in the post above! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I went over the garage and said howdy to my '67. Then I unpacked the box of parts I got in a few days ago.
A set of black seat belts, a gas tank sending unit and chrome bolts for the chrome steps. I plan on doing a little work on the truck tomorrow since I have a day off from work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I bought a socket for my rachet-style lug wrench to fit the truck's lug nuts. I'll try to dig out a 4 way next time I'm by the junk yard. I just like a socket better although I found out I was running into the site of the tire with the handle! (yikes!)
I got in my gasket and rubber order from Tucker's and bought up some brake drum tools at Advance Auto. I found out having the shop replace my truck's cab to frame bushings will run me $52.00 per bushing, including the two the factory tac welded (thanks Chevrolet for making my life needlessly harder). |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Uneasy rider - the new stencil job on the door looks great!
I removed, cleaned and reinstalled my lower pulley to try to reduce the wobble that is causing my fan belt to jump. I think I really need a new harmonic balancer, but dont want to put more money into this motor, since I hope to replace it within 6 mos. Belt seems a little smoother now, but gotta take it on the hiway for a 20 mile trip to really test it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Grabbed a buddy with a truck and trailer, loaded up the wives and the cooler, made the 760 mile round trip to Stratford OK (wife has family there) to pick up the completely rust free bed I bought while on Vacation a few weeks ago.
Now comes the fun part.... THE SWAP

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today I put seat belts in my 67, now I can get a safety inspection and get licensed.
When I closed the passenger's door I heared a sound of metal falling inside the door so I guess that is something to do another day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Yesterday- spent 6 hrs sand blasting and wire wheeling the bottom of the cab. Then degreased, prepped and painted it with rubberized coating.
Today- another 6 hrs, sand blasted and wire wheeled then cleaned the drip rail, window channel and rocker areas. POR 15 in the drip rail (seam sealer is next) and painted the other stuff. Posted via Mobile Device |
