Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's
thanks for the info. I may be ok then with just blocks. I already have about 1 inch spacers on which are from my old shock brackets I put in there. Lol Once I take those out and put in the blocks I should be good. Now I'll need to get rid of this c notch kit I bought. Glad I don't have to do any cutting.

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's
Uh oh spoke too soon. I just measured mine with a tape measure, I only have 2 inches now. With blocks I'll have about a half inch. Mator sure you have 5 inch springs?

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's
That's what I ordered but I never checked them. Just installed them. Are you sure you have 5 inch springs? LOL. My springs are 9 inch's compressed and installed roughly with the bed on. I measured that last night. Not easy to pull that but close enough for comparison.

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's
Well crap, you cant trust anyone. This is my first C10 I have ever lowered or built so I didn't even question what they sent me. Being it was almost 3 years ago I am not even sure who I bought them from anymore. I will double check my spring measurement again.
I am hoping to install mid length headers and then look at lowering more and will have to address it then. For now it sits the way its is . I like the stance now and I cant do much about complaining, I guess I should checked what was shipped better. Lesson learned the hard way. |

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's
I've read (can't remember where since it's been so long ago) that there are different heights being sold as the same drop by different manufacturers. It would be like brand X selling a 5" drop spring that sits a bit higher than a brand Y spring. So just because you have a 5" drop spring, it's not necessarily going to be the same as the other guy's 5" drop spring.
Also, keep in mind that suspension settles over time, so a 5" drop spring that's been installed for a few years will be lower than a brand new 5" drop spring from the same company. It could be one manufacturer says the spring is a 5" drop when it's brand new (ultimately ending up with more drop) or the other guys say their spring is a 5" drop after the suspension settles in (starts out less than 5").

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's
*edit* I posted a question but saw that it was answered a few posts above. I am in for the discussion, however, because I am interested in the measurements you guys are taking. I've been trying to find references for rear to frame, and spring compression measurements with drop springs. Thanks!

Re: How about some pics of Static Dropped C-10's
From the very little experience i have with designing my own custom suspension and doing research 4" of up travel is basically all any road going vehicle typically has. 4" is an industry standard basically. As long as your springs are the correct Spring Rate for your application and your shocks are good you should never bottom out with 4" of up travel. That being said i believe the diff will hit the bed floor before the axle hits the frame with the bump stop cut off. So watch out.

All I did was polish, polish and then polish it again. It probably hadn’t ever seen wax, before me.
