I lost my last Grandparent today and yes it was expected. She was 90 and last year they only gave her a few weeks to live. She is in a better place now. Thanks for all the memories Granny!! I'll miss you.

Sorry to hear that Allan. Glad I can make you laugh. My Aunt might go this year. She is in the last stages of Parkinson's and is 82. She is my closest Relative. She was a Buddy also.

Since we are slow at work I figured I'd take some small items to work on to pass the time. I started on the cowl side panels. Welded the emblem and antenna holes up. I thought they were pretty straight until I blocked them. I ended up wiping both from top top bottom.

Man Alan I'd be happy making half the progress you are. Looks great. I did push both halves of my suburban around the shop today ( along with 2 tons of misc other crap to make room) I needed to move it up front for loading as I'm hoping to reunite the halves. I had been waiting for a part since early jan but got tired of waiting I'll just have to crawl under to install it. Miata footage cool to. I got a lil pocket HD cam from wal mart that I'm going to mount on my bike for track days. It has as good a resolution as the "motorsports" cams for 1/3rd the price

The parts fairy came by today. I ordered from Summit and the package was here the next day. That's just awesome. I sold a couple parts so I could order a few things. Many thanks for those that bought from me.



I also used the cab lift today for the first time. I was going to do it by myself, but had Sdailey helping just in case. We were both amazed at how easy it made to job. Thanks to the one that thought of that idea.

Here is a pic of someone else running a cold air intake. I saw it today at the local cruise in.

I like the idea. Just afraid it's gonna clutter up my engine bay. I would try to finish it out a little better if I decided to do it.

Alan I wish I was as far along on my truck as you. I almost got my new SD raised crossmember in. Doing some motor work. Painting the motor what do you sugguest I prime it with. I'm gonna paint it with VHT chevy orange. Or you could just come to Texas and do it for me and fix all the metal on the cab also.

Neto you can check out Brotherstrucks.com they have all the windowtrim you need. Me personally mine dosen't have it.

What if you welded the heater box hole closed then centered a hole that size behind the carb in the same area of the cowl and made a plate to seal the carb to it.

Thanks ruffrida2005. I went ahead and put it back on after taking care of the rust as best I could. I used the rust converter and encapsulator. I used slick sand on the whole cab today. Alan that's stuff nice but needs to be thinned with a 1.8 tip. now just have to finish a few little dents and seal it.

I painted my engine several years ago (9) and ran it for only 500 miles. I noticed the other day that the paint was flaking on the block on the corners. I used Plasti-coat ( I love that stuff). I don't think I used and etch primer on the block, This was done back in my drinking days. I took the intake to work and primed it then sprayed Plasti-coat 9 years ago and it still looks great. I don't know if your block is bare metal or not. It really doesn't matter. I'm going to clean and degrease scuff and sand flaking paint then prime and paint. You might want to do a search or get some input from the paint and body section also.

That's a good thought, or I could get a machine shop to cut me a billet cover with a round flange on it. With everyone's ideas it gets me thinking and coming up with other possibilities. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I mentioned somewhere I sprayed it with a 2.0 tip and still had to reduce slick sand so I could spray it. Even then it was a slow process of spraying. I had too slow down my movement while spraying

You did a fantastic job on the lift bar. I just threw mine together. Mines not adjustable. The main reason other than being lazy I didn't have enough scrap metal laying around. Be careful, I don't know if yours will do it or not, the bar might flip over by pivoting on the bolt. Instead of sitting on the bar it will be hanging from it. If my hand would have been in the way I might be missing a few fingers.

That looks like a good idea, just needs to be cleaned up. I was thinking of using the front turn signal holes in the hood. I was going to shave all those holes including the 2 center ones. But might do the cold intake there with dual snorkels, and just shave the center holes. It's a lot of work though. I also though of grafting a cowl hood from a donor Chevelle SS hood to the 65 hood. The wheel s in my head are turning. Smell it?

Copy the smoke coming out of the ears I have that same smell over here and it won't go away.

What happened did I scare ya'll off?

Got some more goodies in the mail today. The starter came from a coworker, but it don't fit.



This distributor came from White Performance



Got the heads torque down and the pushrods in. This engine has been on the stand for about 8 years after being ran 500 miles. I'm kind of concerned about the lifters. They are hydraulic, but will not compress. Usually while adjusting lifters I can push the rocker arm down to compress them. I didn't resoak them. I'm thinking about getting the oil pump and pan on and spin the oil pump to pressurize the engine and see if that helps.
