That sounds like a good plan, which ones are you planning on going to? You coming out here? We have some pretty good show & shines. that would be a good test for it.

Re: Here we go!!!

In your opinion, would it be any easier to separate the rails from the crossmembers before you shortened them, as you did with the fishplating? I can see some advantage to being able to turn them any angle you want.

I am thinking of doing this too on an upcoming project. I think it would be good to turn/position the rails for the best welding position. I have access to some heavy tube that I would clamp the rails on to so that stay straight and true.

Re: Here we go!!!

I have'nt really thought about doing it that way......but if you are doing Porterbuilt cross members the frame will have to be squared up anyways. So as long as there straight and the same lenght I don't see it being a problem.

Re: Here we go!!!

Thats a lot of work for something that is never seen. I'm in the process of slicking one up right now. I keep asking myself why, but I haven't stopped yet.

Re: Here we go!!!

Oh I know exactly what you are saying. I keep looking at my frame, thinking about pulling the bed to detail the suspension even more. Fortunately I haven't succumbed to that desire....yet.

Re: Here we go!!!

Well your truck is still one of my favorite trucks!!!! It's funny how a guy always has something that can always use some extra detail. I did the interior 3 times on my 79.....and the third time I was happy. This truck is taking longer but i'm trying to get it right the first time
