I saw it on the C10 forum 4 sale too. I was saddened that it was not going to be finished after all that workmanship. I have been in his shoes & made the wrong decision ... damb that '66 chevy II ....

I still have it. Just been real busy with work and family and haven't worked on it for about 3 months.

Should be picking up a rear mount suburban gas tank this weekend. Any suggestions on the best way to plumb it? Was looking in a Speedway Motors catalogue and they had 3/8" aluminum line and compression fittings. Looked to be a good inexpensive route to go. Anybody have some input?

I think it depends on how much you want to spend and if you want rigid lines verses braided/flexible lines.

I have a different motor & dual tanks so I went with rubber fuel injected lines from the tanks to the tank selector switch/valve, then I went with braided.

If you are running one tank I think you could do either, but it would depend on your clearances around your bagged frame and where you think the lines need to run (If you were to go with rigid pre-bent lines).

Will anyone see your fuel lines, when your truck has it's frame laying on the ground? I think hard lines look cleaner when done well. Run hard line up to the engine bay then some short piece of braided where people can see it. (I have only ever run fuel lines on something that was leaking and needed sections replaced, thus only working with steel, rubber and plastic lines.)

I would say the 3/8" aluminum hardline(s) to braided at the engine (and a short braided line at the tank for ease of connection and all) My truck has a fuel cell in the back and I ran aluminum lines all the way to front and have short sections of braided from the top of the frame to my engine (LT1 though).

Thanks for the replies guys. I talked to a buddy of mine yesterday and he has some left over 3/8 stainless I can have. I figure I can just run that front to back and put a foot of rubber line on each end. It won't be seen and doesn't have to be pretty. Just needs to work and be safe.

I did my 64's frame w/the fuel/brake line tubing from Oreilly's. It's the stuff that's coated on the outside for rust prevention. I used 3 sticks & joined them together w/the included compression fittings. Then on the ends, I used short pieces of fuel injection rated fuel line for the tank & fuel-pump leads.

Using the 3 sections allowed me to tweak each section as close as possible to my chassis. Once everything was assembled & the placement was how I wanted, I took it/them back out & painted the lines black. Once done, they disappeared into the frame channel (except for the SS cushion clamps & mounting hardware).

you could always go stainless braided or the black braided, and depending on ur color scheme your could do black AN fittings, thats usually looks clean.

but im sure alum or stainless hardline will look clean to.

Wasn't able to find a blazer/suburban tank like I wanted but I found this Ford tank.
Cut out the factory crossmember and it fits in there pretty good. Just need to make some mounts and get it plumbed.

Tank mounts are done! Only down side is that I wasn't able to get it low enough to allow me to mount the fuel filler where I wanted to. Probably going to use the stock tank filler as the vent and use the vent as the filler.





Doesn't hang too low but since it's plastic I will eventually make a guard for it.
