LDO, I remember when I did mine. It was a real pain until I got it all off. Looking good!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Thanks!
I've been using this orange gel stuff and it works really good with no bad odor. It doesn't burn the skin off either like the old military stuff I used a long time ago.

I had a weekend like that a year ago. Glad it's over. Conratulations on finishing some hard work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Lugnutz,
thanks a ton for posting your pictures! I thought there was something wrong with the hole for the column, that little edge that's bent outward, I thought mine was jacked! LOL So either both our trucks are jacked or it's factory!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Finished the drivers side bedside, it's now 20" shorter and took two weekends and about 16 hours. Still have to stitch weld it all together. Patched up the backside too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Sunday afternoon did some work on the 66. Changed the oil, replaced the muffler and fixed all the lights. Now onto to some brake work and get ready for its first trip on the road in a while.

And off the trailer onto my converted O Reilly's cart. A little work to do on it, but over all a real good cab. This came from the yard here in Longmont.

That's terrific. Nice clean cab to work with. It will make your build go so much faster. Overall that's a really nice cab with minimal rust. Mine was similar but I never had an opportunity to get mine blasted. What's next?

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Lugnutz65, a year and 5 months now. But it's in the garage with etch primer on it. 3 weeks and it will be sitting on the frame and the rest of the pieces attached. I'll let it sit in primer till winter and drive it in the meantime. Then take it back down enough to paint. Getting tired of setting in the old cab making vroom , vroom sounds, lol.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Last Friday Saturday on Sunday on worked steadily on my bed and frame. Earlier in the week after work I took the loose rust off then shot it with Jasco Prep & Prime to kill off the rust then I masked off what I needed to. Friday night I sprayed two gallons of Transtar Undercoating. Saturday I sprayed two quarts of Gloss Black Hammerite mixed with two teaspoons of copper pearl and one of gold. I haven't decided whether or not to clear the bed yet, but the tops of the rails will get shot. Sunday I masked off the letters on the tailgate for the silver base which will get sprayed in the purple candy that should be here today. But even the purple will get sprayed over, the trucks main color will be black base with rootbeer candy and anything purple will turn a burned orange.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Got the grill, headlights and cans off. Also got the horn off and took a few mins to locate bolts to start getting fenders off. Got the braces off that connects front to radiator support. Bed is cut loose just waiting on help to set it off. Hopefully have all the front off by the weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Finally got the 5 lug axles in. Found out the 15x10 with 5 inch backspace won't fit so I ordered some with 4.5. Good thing I kept the junk yard rollers!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
welded up half my exhaust need to buy mufflers that fit. The super 40s. Are to big. But for now. 2 and a half inch straight pipes with turn downs tack welded on just to move the exhaust down. Sounds super much better!!!
