Last piece of the suspension puzzle finally here. D44 from 73 K20. I am going to hate cleaning this thing up.

We have cabinets for small stuff but I send the big stuff out. I will power wash it, the mess that is left is what I really hate.

I had mine blasted... just take the brake parts off and put a rag where the axle shafts go in the tube....

Is that a white sealer over the bare metal?

It will be 100% disassembled, blasted, painted and rebuilt.

It is a direct to metal epoxy primer/sealer. I use white as it shows cracks in metal that gray won't show.

Cab and bed are blocked for the last time before final 2 coats of primer for wet sanding right before color. Also at this time truck was seam sealed. How do you get perfect gutter seams? $60 for 2 tubes of seam sealer. Heavy body for the vertical spots and self leveling for the top that leaves a perfect gutter.

Cab has been final primed, so we rolled it up to finish the bottom of the floor. Scraped clean, seam sealed, epoxy primed, and Raptor lined. We are working on the bed right now as I post this.

any info on this "raptor lining"?

also, I just noticed that your floor doesn't have the cross support just behind the high hump that my 68 does???

It is a truck bed coating by U-pol. Don't know about the cross brace difference.

thanks for the info... Few more questions..
1.How well do you think that Raptor stuff would stick to the metal strips for a wood bed? My concern is that it would flake off the edges.
2. how much of the kit was used on the floor? I want to do the floor, bed strips, underside of inner fenders and wheel wells. I assume that I would need a second kit to to the inner bedsides, tailgate, full wheel well and innerfenders.

I think that cross brace had something to do with the extra factory seat holes that my floor had. Don't know why since regular buckets weren't available in 68.

You would need 2 kits. Kit includes 4 quarts of liner and 1 qt of catalyst. I ended up using 5 qts under the bed. Lots of nooks and crannies to use material up on. It will stick just fine as long as the surface is prepped properly.

Truck has buddy buckets in it.

I started watching this thread a while back ago and I am glad to see someone is doing a 4x4. I would love to drive mine down sometime and see the build. it looks great. Mine is intended to be a nice Resto-Mod and I think we have done it. Keep us posted.

7 months after the truck was fully disassembled, we have color. Interior is semi gloss to keep the glare down. Looks just like it left the factory.

Speaker, radio, and wiper motor installed. Also the hydraulic clutch master cylinder has been mocked up. A longer rod will be required to hook it up properly.

Been sandbagging on posting pics lately. ANyways here is a start. We decided to upgrade to a hydroboost setup on this truck. Got a 1 ton unit from a 75 Chevy, had the 3/16" plate cut on a plasma cam so the firewall was not carrying the weight. Also new matching master cylinder mocked up as well. Not pictured, I am reusing the booster support rod to further help stabilize in install. Pic was taken before I opened up the firewall to allow the hydro attach nut to pass thru the firewall during intial mock up.

Last pieces of the puzzle before the orange starts to fly in the next 7-10 days. New Tri-Plus hood to replace the original that was rotted out behind the trim. Worst piece I have got from Tri-Plus. Looked very nice until we started blocking it. I have been happy with all the other Tri-Plus parts used and sold to date.

As soon as I upload the pics to the computer, I have some of the frame going together.

Hood is finally straight, only 30 or more hours in it so far.....
Also a pic of the restored steering wheel. Many hours there as well to get all the cracks out of it. Frame is being mocked up for motor relocation, clearances, etc. Pic is a few weeks old, should have new frame pics to post after the weekend when I hope to finalize everything.

Man, that is really starting to look sweet...Can't wait to see it finished. Diggin that hydro clutch too.

I could not have picked a better week to start putting the color on this truck. Here is a treat for the owner Richard. The bed has turned out very nice so far. It will be sick once we get it cut and buffed next week.
