Re: Let's see some 73-87 1 Ton Dually Pictures!
Hehehe... I can never pass up one of these threads...
Bought it last fall and parked it when it snowed... hopefully pulling it out this weekend Got a "to-do" list longer then an entire kindergardens class christmas list... Need to decide what route i am going in life (school/work) etc before i dive in to deep but i'd really like to get the cummins in this "pig" I am the type of person who will go to change the oil and 6 hours later i will have it stripped down to the frame... I need to be very careful, pace my self and plan it out properly as not to to wreck it for my self. My intentions are to build it to be a daily driving work truck with the power and comfort of a modern vehicle. plain and simple

nice truck, if it were mine I would have to slam it. The painted mirrors/rims/bumpers look great on it

Dude between this and your gold truck, I am really starting to love the idea of building a single cab for my next truck.

Re: Let's see some 73-87 1 Ton Dually Pictures!
Oh Ya!!...they were the best lookin IMO ...they "were" made by PAPE Enterprises... we used to be a dealer up here in the 80's..they made quite a few versions..look on line and u can find there old website.to see the many they offered..we had the dual window version on dads 85 chev....but to me those sleepers look perfect on a longbox truck, they balance it all out...and be that i grew ip at the dragstrip here....they were on all crewcab duallys....there was a guy on this site with a little shorbox brown/tan 78 style that was sellin one... other wise if you were interested, post an ad on your local craigslist under autoparts and post a couple pictures for reference, and you will get calls...

My 86 extended crew. The drop pic is photoshopped, I havent decided on how low to drop it yet, but it will be limo black when finished. You guys have some beautiful trucks here, I hope to have one just as nice one day.

Re: Let's see some 73-87 1 Ton Dually Pictures!
The horse hauler:
350/th400 - formerly owned by an asphalt company until my wife bought it a couple of years before we got married. Just put in a rebuilt trans and upgraded the drastically undersized trans cooler. Runs much better now If we keep it long enough, I'd like to put a diesel in it - this 8-10mpg is getting old. Alex |

Re: Let's see some 73-87 1 Ton Dually Pictures!
Can I play, even though it's an 88. Put some new (well acceptable anyway) shoes on it today, should bring it home in the morning. It runs surprisingly strong for a 350, I guess the 4.56s don't hurt. Gotta clean it up and figure out what I got and how to turn it into a car hauler.

Re: Let's see some 73-87 1 Ton Dually Pictures!
Here's my 1984 Chevrolet cab and chassis welding truck, original 454 engine and 4 speed manual tranny. The bed was installed when it was new, it's really heavy made out of 1/8" diamond plate and the framework is 3" C-channel. It just hit 100K miles about a month ago, runs good and strong and gets about 11MPG loaded down with the welder and tools. Once I get 'er going faster than 65, I get about 11 gallons to a mile.
