Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
Nobody specified at the start of the thread!!! It is easier with a big block though. The best I got out of my sbc was a 13.25 @ 104. That was the same suspension set up and rear too. It was a mild .060 over 350 with, Vortec heads and(I know I might hear about this) a big mutha thumpr cam. But, I got the best ever passes with that cam! But, I wasn't expecting an 11 sec pass that day. I figured low 12's. On the 11.82 pass, it spun the tires when I hit 2nd. So, hopefully with a few tweaks, I'll have an 11.50 truck. Eventually, I want to get it into the 10's and be street legal. But right now, its really streetable. With, the exception of the fuel mileage of an almost 500 cube big block.

But it was never specified but since the original poster has a sbc I figure the thread may be better suited to sbc related stuff I think the real the real issue is the line that while not thin but def not big is getting our bricks to do lower than 12s and still be what they are, a truck. I mean lighter smaller camaros and mustangs older Vettes and such. 450hp and your there and grandma can still drive it if your combo is good. For our trucks about 550hp is needed or 500 and a well thought setup. So while today's tech has certainly made this possible in a sbc and a bbc can do this with ease I think we all know its easy to do 10s with our trucks and we all know basicly how to do it. Not hard to figure out that big meats a good rear susp and big motor and being stripped will get you there. But doing it and being street able esp with a small block. I think that is what maybe this thread should focus on and some bbc too cause we love em. But hey who here can say tomarow they are just going to buy an ls7 for 12k tomarow and throw it in? Not very realistic now is it? Posted via Mobile Device

i comend you for dropping a 8.1 liter in your square, are those castings for EFI vortecs on the big blocks or old school? insidious, he is right, i think it would be easy to take a nasty small block and turn our arrow dynamic bricks into rockets, but intill then i say the big blocks are allowed, not many small blocks running the street in our squares touting less than 12 second passes, not to mention the all stock part. so yea much of what you and i are gonna hear on this thread post is gonna be sick, nasty small blocks, and BIG BLOCKS!

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
There's a guy out if Florida that I've seen on pass time who's running into the mid 11s as I recall in a dually. White truck, very stock "looking", I think he owns a plumbing company. I recall he's over 1,000hp on a boosted big block.
I've seen a number of tube chassis squares run pretty good, but not as well as the same drive train would have run in a platform with better aero. That Ms. Misery truck is something to see though! Posted via Mobile Device

Mine really isn't that stock anymore. I the only thing GM is, the block and heads.

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
My friend built a 500 cad with a switch pitch backed up by the stock Cad rear end with 2.73 in a 73 square body. The compression ration was 9-1, roller rockers, Comp 268 like cam, dual plane high rise, built Q jet, and a good quality build.
It had a 5/7 lowering job, 295/60/15 tires, and slapper bars that were properly set-up for fun. It was firmly in the 12's, and with tuning could of touched high 11's on a good day. Plus it would regularly get over 15 mpg driving 75, and just about tow any hill flat. Being a rcsb it was pretty hairy when you really got on it, and I think a rclb would of been a better choice. None the less it would fire up on the first shot, and drive no problem in the cold LA winters. |

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
Just saw some pics of a good looking drag square in a guys sig on yellow bullet. Don't have any stats but it was leaving wheels up. Post them when I get a chance from the big computer.

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
Maybe a couple of these are someone on here?
And yes, I know, not necessarily streetable trucks in all cases, but I've seen some pretty intersting things driven on the street...

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
Ms. Misery is an outlaw 10.5 truck. Runs 4 wheel drive and I understand its a serious handful. He's wadded it up big a could times. It's a bad mother though! 4.77 at 150 in the 1/8.

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
lol lets get technicall. if i put one of these big squares in a drag race. two at different elevations but same combo. you guys think air pressure is very important? lol of coarse not. BUT this is a for seeing and i can see were it is going. everybodys gonna start talking crazy about sea levels. ever think of hills?

Re: Anybody running lower then 12s QM?
Well we will make one reply out of air levels. Going from sea level to say a state like Utah will take about 15% of your power away at least. That's big!
A turbo makes quick work out of that though. If you want to go past the 12s and even into The tens and still be able to get decent mpg and street manners boost is the best way. Posted via Mobile Device
