Re: Where was your truck born??

"Jake" was assembled at the Fremont Plant. According to the build sheet and papers I found in the bench seat my truck was sold at Capitol Chevrolet in Austin Texas to an air conditioning company. I bought it from the second owner. Apparently never left Central Texas. BTW, I could not even begin to list all the origins of all the parts that are in my build... 4.3 vortec/TH350 anyone?

Re: Where was your truck born??

I think my frame was assembled November 25th 1969 but the truck was assembled Friday December 12th 1969 in Janesville, Wisconsin she was born with a two tone light red and white paint job, manual steering, manual brakes, a th350 automatic transmission and, a 307 small block v8 then was sent to (via truck I believe) the now (closed) Kerr Chevrolet in Hastings, Nebraska where it sat on the lot until March, 5th 1970 and was purchased by a local gas station I believe I'm the 4th owner but the small window cab it has came from a truck that was built in St. Louis then sent to Colorado

Re: Where was your truck born??

Alrighty got a 67 Chevy c10 longbed fleetside blue with white interior originally was born in Fremont on January 5th and sold at Stewart Chevrolet in San Francisco and it made it's way as far as Fresno before it started it's way back, and then went with me in A t w a t e r CA. (At least a piece anyway) second is a 67 Chevy c20 longbed fleetside blue interior with white exterior born in Fremont on March 9th then sent to Steven creeks chevrolet in San Jose, it then made it's way to Merced and then I got it. And third is a 1970 Chevy k10 longbed fleetside white with red vinyl interior trim, born in Fremont (forgot the date can't find the papers just yet) and sent to john Roth chevrolet in Merced ca and was bought by my dad in 2001 and now it's my truck.

Re: Where was your truck born??

Two 1969s from Fremont. One sold in Lebanon Oregon, not sure of other. One is a k20 the other a c20. The k20 maroon interior - c20 dark blue. Also a gmc c20 in silver with maroon interior from st Louis. Not sure how it arrived in Oregon but this is probably where it will die because the under carriage is great but the cab is toast.

Interesting - I've never seen the "Chevrolet Motor Company" nomenclature before. Usually referred to as "Chevrolet Motor Division".

Trucks are not necessarily built in VIN order.

Nice trucks Guys!
I'd be curious when, or if they started making Blazers in Fremont, mine was originally ordered and purchased from a dealership less than 20 miles from the Fremont plant but was manufactured in St. Louis, and it was specifically spec'd and ordered, not off the lot or a transfer. Seems like that would indicate that '70 Jimmys (and I would assume Blazers) were not made on the West Coast at the time, which seems strange because that's were it sounds like most of them were shipped.

I have a '71 Jimmy that came of the line at St Louis. I bought it from a guy who had moved to AZ from Cal, E LA. (He said he bought it off a guy from Newport Beach.) My '68 Stepside I bought in Pasadena Calif [and it is a Fremont truck] and my '67 K/10 Suburban, I bought in Mesa, AZ is also a Fremont truck. Another K/5 parts tub I bought in Lake Havasu is a Flint Mich. truck.
Come to think of it, I don't know if I've ever seen a Fremont Blazer or Jimmy.
'70 was the first year for the GMC Jimmy, a year after Chevy's K/5 started its production run.
[Census Takers, take note: this info is repeated from my earlier post, # 40.]

I'm not sure that trucks were actually built in Norwood.

As far as I know Norwood only built F cars.

I have the book "Echos of Norwood and (...if I can find it...) will verify.
