Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
You fellas know about the fuel lines being different diameters don't you? The 6 cylinder has a 5/16" single line only and a later V8 has a 3/8" feed line and a 1/4" return line from the sending unit to the fuel pump. And as far as I know each sending unit will fit in either eec tank or non eec tank. Just an FYI when planning your fuel system.

My truck was originally a 6-cylinder, but everything has been replaced. i did custom fuel lines tank to carb, new tank, and new sending unit. I agree, sending units all fit any of the tanks. You can use the one with a return pretty easily to add a return to the in cab tank. You can get sending units with 5/16 or 3/8, and 3/8 ones with or without returns. The sending unit that was in my truck when I got it was 3/8 and had a capped off return. When it died I replaced it with a 3/8 without the return. That was after I had replaced the tank. If I had known then what I know now I would have bought an EEC tank and made all of this easier.

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
With the cost of other brand units, I figured I'd wait until my carb started giving me issues, but for this price I might just bite now.
Although, I may just wait and see about the new 400hp unit.

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
Ok guys I just ran a test. I hooked my return line up to my shop air and put 10 psi of pressure to it and as it was filling the tank I heard it start hissing. So I crimped the hose off to hold pressure to find the hiss. Sure enough my one way vented cap will also vent high pressure out. Needless to say it takes a good amount of volume and pressure but it will vent. This is good news to me for not having to do another vent line. Another good thing is if it builds that much pressure I will surely hear it. I am going to run the command center vent to my factory tank passenger side vent that's already under the hood and run it as a vent IN only system and only out if it exceeds over 5 psi. I feel like it will be good

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
So would the inline pump kit that they offer work with the factory in-cab tank in a 72 (vented, has a return port on the sending unit assembly)? Do the electric pumps have enough draw to lift the fuel through the top of the tank? I have no experience with electric fuel pumps.

The FiTech kit uses -10AN push-on fittings ans 1/2"I.D. hose to connect the supply line to the prefilter and to the pump inlet. The pump primed instantly even with a near empty tank. It looks to be a high quality Walbro that has been rebranded with FiTech's logo. I'm sure it will provide years of trouble free operation. FiTech was in the OEM EFI buisness for along time before starting their aftermarket EFIs so I doubt they would sell you a junk pump.

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
Yup, my tank has a vent off the top on the passenger side, the short one going to the filler neck on the driver side, and then the sending unit has the feed line and what I assume is a return line that is just capped on the outside with a plugged chunk of hose.

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
Yes, I'm running a mechanical pump now. Haven't ordered an EFI yet, just getting an idea of my options. I know the Command Center is the obvious choice, but I figured I'd see how feasible the inline pump would be without the Command Center. I'm just excited that the feedback has been so good on the performance so far, and the price have dropped to reasonable levels all of a sudden!

I have purchased the FiTech TBI unit and Command Center to go on my 69 Camaro and will be using my mechanical pump. The FiTech parts look first rate. You can see some of our work on my build thread in my signature.

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
I like the idea of the command center because its really an in-tank pump, which is cooled by the fuel, and will last a lot longer. Plus having the surge tank gets rid of the issues with fuel starvation on corners when the stock tank is low (no baffles or sump).

Re: Pace performance fitech fuel injection
I put vintage air in my truck this weekend and while doing it I have been running wire and making preperations for the command center return lines. I hope jegs ships mine out tomorrow. Doubtful but hopes are high. If anyone wants I could do a little write up of the install with the command center and everything with a factory tank since I have not seen that particular write up yet.
