I have (obviously see my pics ) made my own hubs with original parts and you can cut a hole ( which is all they did ) .
I dont have a 4x4 but see what I did for to make the later model rims fit the original caps with the springs etc .

Now I have some rare NOS items and am looking for values and if best to sell here or through eBay. Some of the hardest things for me to find were the 4x4 62 caps and the extinguisher.
Any thoughts or advice would be awesome.
I’ll just toss in the photos.

What’s your eBay name?

Re: The Chevrolet and GMC Hubcap thread

ebay name supercmonkey
I have also bought and sold on here before and you will see some of my older purchases or sales were chevy items but now most of other stuff is my other hobby comics.
I have gotten a few requests on pricing which is what I am trying to hammer down right now. Obviously highest demand items are the 4WD hubcaps, NOS hubcaps and the earlier extinguisher and tool kit. going to try and do some more internet digging today to work out prices.
Thanks

I think we need to start a '60-'66 wheel thread to compliment this hubcap thread.

I would concur. Too bad i have nothing to contribute. I am on the hunt for some 16" wheels. Have come across some...pricey to ship.

If pics of crusty rusty wheels are fine I should be able to contribute in that thread lol. I have 0 hubcaps but I think my truck has 3 different wheels on it...

Re: The Chevrolet and GMC Hubcap thread

well I still have these 15" snap ring 8 lugs with clips... and I found the original spare for the truck while I was back home on vacation

in the mean time I have these 16.5" with firestones but eventually want to settle on a steelie set that I can transfer clips to for caps..

thank y'all for the pictures and input and please keep it going.. like to see some solutions to getting it close to original as possible..

I'm thinking white caps would look good on this one with while bumpers but the original wheels were black..

so black wheels and white caps or white wheels and white caps?

and what about the nubs if the wheels have them? are there modern 16" steel wheels without nubs?

Re: The Chevrolet and GMC Hubcap thread

Let's not dilute this awesome hubcap thread with the wheel info. There is a definite need for a wheel specific thread too, but let's make it a separate subject.

Re: The Chevrolet and GMC Hubcap thread

I bought a set of 61-63 Chrome C10 hubcaps. I'll post two pics below. First pic is of the dull finish. Second is after a quick hand polish. My question is about the "texture" in the chrome finish. It is not rough on the surface but appears to have depth with a crinkle like appearance. Before I polished them, I was sure they are original chrome, now I'm not sure. Maybe it is the original chrome failing? Can anyone lend some insight? Thanks

Your caps are brass underneath the chrome. Years of oxidation is whats causing the chrome to deteriorate . Be very careful with these caps if using on 4 nub wheels , they are prone to cracking when used on 4 nub wheels.
