Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I swapped carbs the other day to an earlier Qjet. I didn't like how it ran so I put the later Qjet back on this morning. I know not exciting, but it's what I did. I plan on driving it later

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I don't know. I don't think I did but I might be running rich now. I could use some help getting it tuned right.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I got a tilt steering column today. A guy I know told me he had one and that I could have it for $30 if I pulled it, so I went and got it. The truck didn't have an engine and bottom of the column was already apart so I just hopped into the engine bay and yanked it. Then I went over my bed with 220 grit sandpaper getting ready to prime and found 3 more dings where I need filler. GRRRRR! I thought I was done but I guess not.
And my bed and radiator support mounting kits came from GMC Paul's. We're not real busy at work so I've been working on my truck all this month. It's great to have full days to work on it and to see progress but some days I do feel a little overwhelmed. At least the main body work is done and hopefully I'll shoot color on the inner fenders and firewall and set my cab back on this week. That should get me motivated.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
PO had the license plate hanging from the hitch receiver with a zip tie. Not the cleanest installation. I made this by mounting a license plate bracket to a receiver plug. Now I need to find a lighted frame and/or install a small LED light to be legal.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I installed a new grant steering wheel, now I have a horn that works! It was kind of interesting to do it without a puller. I ended up putting the big nut under the wheel and using the three small outer bolts to pull it off the spline. It just makes me feel better with a horn to let people know I'm here! Also got a new stool for my garage and stuff to do an oil change

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
While deployed....I once again spent my time off researching the c*#p out of this forum....it just never ends. There are so many different threads and different ideas that I'm now confused on were I want to go with my 67 stepside once I return.
Ohhh, and my wife gets a call saying "the truck is an eye soar" sitting in the driveway......some people just don't get it. |

both times that i pulled a motor out of this truck i never removed the rad. always managed to clear the rad and core support just fine. i just wish i didn't have to pull the hood to get the motor out though

Suggest you get a truck cover sent to your wife so she can cover it. Not only does she not need "nosiness" from the neighbors, but if it's unregistered/uninsured someone may call the code enforcement folks and they'll start hassling her. If it's covered, they can't look under the cover for a current license. The cover will also help protect the truck from folks with sticky fingers from lifting parts. Good luck and come back safe. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today I put in, the radio, antenna, which is hidden under the cowl, I filled in the hole on the cowl during the body work, wanted a cleaner look. The wipers back on,, washer pump wouldn't work so I put in a universal one under the hood.: 68gmc2:

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Put in a new starter. Could have done it last summer when I knew it was getting tired, but I figured it would be better to wait till it was 30F outside to do it.
Starts perfect now.
