Try this tip. It makes working with POR-15 less messy.
http://lugnutz65chevystepside.weebly...less-mess.html

I also recommend applying a rattle can top coat after the POR-15 has dried enough to not leave any fingerprint.

Great tip thanks I am using the grey on the chassis . The black is for the suspension parts so that tip will come in very handy . Does anybody know how much I will probably use on a long bed chassis . I have got 2 quarts

Lug nuts you recommend putting a top coat over the top did you use clear or colour ?

Spray any colour you want. The POR-15 is gonna fade if exposed to UV light. The top coat will protect it. I think 1 quart is enough to do the entire chassis with 2 thin coats. Two thin coats is better than a thicker coat.

Didn't touch it, but spent a bunch of money on it today. Front end rebuild kit, cam and lifters, and a set of headers. About to order epoxy primer. Been over 100 degrees here for more than a week. Hard to get motivated to run that sandblaster after a days work.

I got the carpet installed in the back of my Panel. First 1/2 inch padding, when thin low pile carpet. Really happy with how it turned out!

One quart of black covered my long-bed frame with two coats and I still had some left over. The stuff is really really thin and goes on very nice with a brush.

I then used their black topcoat, which went on much thicker, and did, in some cases, leave brush strokes. Put down plastic over anything you don't want black spots on, and wear gloves/long sleeves. This is tough stuff, but hoping it'll make my frame pretty much rust-proof.

Your frame and suspension won't be exposed to UV very much, but I still recommend the top coat.

Here is a shot of what the finished frame with POR 15 and their top coat looks like:

I am not the poster of the pics but I know those are made by Speedhut.com They custom build your gauges when you order them. You can specify all types of items, like font, lighting color, bezel style, etc. I have used them for a couple projects and love them.

Hey sorry I missed this post. The poster above is right, they are from Speedhut. They were running a 10% off sale in May so I built them using their configurator.

They will glow blue at night, but only the numbers and lines, so they'll look more like modern gauges rather than my old set of autometer that lit the entire gauge.

You can get them in a bunch of different styles, colors, fonts, lighting colors, etc. A lot of customization is possible. I got a GPS-driven Speedo, so no worrying about transmission gearing or hookups which will be nice.

Thanks for the tip I will definitely put down a sheet of plastic and the long sleeves it might get a bit hot in the carport but I suppose it's better than having to rub your skin of with a scrubbing brush when you have finished

Clean drips on your skin with acetone before it dries. Works pretty good. Plan to throw the brush away. I would not roll it. Spread it thin.
