Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
I wanted to get a 1 piece, but nobody wanted to build one that long, they said it wouldn't hold up.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
I think that the 2-piece shafts are stronger than a lot of people think. I always heard jokes from my buddies when we were at the track about seeing parts of driveshafts coming out from underneath my truck on a pass, but it never happened, and I went some 6.70s in the 1/8 with that setup. I finally got nervous enough about it and put the 1-piece in it.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Mine has been good so far, hope it holds up. It is made of heavy duty 1350 series parts and makes the stock shaft look like a tooth pick.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
71, if you're running 1350-series parts, then you're definitely running better stuff than I was. All I ever ran was the factory stuff. About every 2 years or so, I'd put a carrier brg., u-joints, and a slip yoke in it. Never had any trouble out of it.

I have the old one out of my camaro in it right now but I have to get the other one redone to be able to spray it! This one seems to run about the same but I don't want to kill this one!

And details on the glass tailgate would be???????? Where, weight, how much.
No racing for me, seats are suppose to be in this week, and mine is going in for a roll bar. Have all the parts now to run 10's.

I didn't run this weekend. I'm trying to figure out a high-rpm vibration that seems to be drivetrain related. What do you guys run as far as pinion angle is concerned?

Too damn hot to run here..over 110 and we are getting ready to shoot the primer. Going to install the new converter and ultimate playback tach. We are 2 degrees down with the ladder bar set up. I'm going to drop the barsdown one hole to try and get a good shot of a wheelie.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Hey Jim
I finally got my truck to 1.99 60ft , not exactly down where you are , but .... Do you think i would benefit from some front drag shocks ? I'm running new gas da stock replacement from Napa . They seem much stiffer than the rears . Thanks ...................................... 409 .

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Front drag shocks wouldn't hurt(except the wallet) but I don't think you will pick up much. When I first started I ran 14.57 at 87mph, so you do have some ET left. Have you played with tuning yet? A quicker advance curve with a higher total timing should help the short time. What distributor are you running.
You can always call me at 530-945-8975

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Right on, JIM'S DRAG TRUCK HOT LINE !!!!
Good job breaking the 2's. Just remember, when looking at your 60', it's not like a car, that's alot of steel your trying to move. I've taken alot of car's that out 60' me, I have good reaction times, so cross first so you don't notice unless your watching the clock. You thinking of going to glass bedsides Jim? I wonder what US body's cab weighs?

You have to get that thing to the track, slap on a set of slicks and see what she runs. We need to know details like that.

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Nope on the bedsides. We talked about it last night. I can remove and install my complete bed by myself. So I figure around a 125lbs. 2 bedsides(outer skin only) and a tail gate skin. So I can't justify the 1000.00 for the glass stuff...and it may even weigh more. I am going to email US body and find out how much the glass doors weight...our doors are real...real heavy.
Anyone that needs help or wants to compair notes..or just say hey can give me a call...I have like 10,000 roll over minutes I need to use...lol

Re: Ran 11.44 @117.69mph
Let us know what you find out about the doors. The pics you showed of your bed, that's complete? You just have side skins and tail gate skin no front, with framework? What do you run for a cover? I've often wondered if a aluminum floor would be worth the cost, I want to lighten mine up, but would like to keep a full bed.
