I have piced up a set of 2" front spring for mine and 3" for the rear and will steal my set of ECE spindles from my SB parts pile or spring for a new set once I get it rolling.

Thanks man,no real updates yet.I still need to gather some parts before I do the drop.Yesterday me and the boy washed the Burb and then I tackled cleaning the factory floor mat.

The Burb all washed up.I really need to put the trim piece on the passenger door.I even have it,just need to get the clips for the middle with double sided tape

Here is a pic of the Burb the night that I had picked it up.The floor mat looked like it had never been cleaned.I swept it out and drove like that till now.

I wet the floor down with a big sponge making sure to it all good n wet. Then I took my time washing the outside of the Burb letting the floor "soak".After I washed the outside I then took the same sponge and got up most of the surface crud off so I wouldn't just be spreading dirt around when I attacked it for real I spread some oxiclean over the still wet floor and hit the entire floor with a scrub brush and a lot of elbow grease.I was amazed with the result and wonder why I haven't done this sooner.Tell me what y'all think

Re: Project Patina Azul

While at the New Braunfels swap meet yesterday picked up a re-pop Driver side sport mirror for the Burb.It was $35 and was tired of not having a mirror.I took a few pics of the install today.

After some head scratching on how I was gonna go about holding the mirror and the screw, gasket and backing plate I taped the gasket to the door.

I then hung the mirror by the threads of the front most screw.I then used my right hand to hold the screw driver on the screw firmly so I could use my left guide the backing plate into position. It was not easy and it took a couple tries.

Then I got the other screws started and snugged them up when I was happy with it.I'm sure there is an easier way to do this but this is how I got it done

Re: Project Patina Azul

I also have been kicking around the idea making my seat look better until I can get it redone.

I came up with a cheap fix that will get me by till I can get the seat redone.I found some cheap blue pillow cases at Wal-mart for $5.I just happened have some matching blue thread in a sewing kit left behind by an old girlfriend. We're in bussiness

Then I went about tucking the two pillow cases into position. The idea I had was to use the cases to protect the foam and serve as a backing to stitch the remaining seat cloth to.

Then I realized that the needle I had would be a PITA to use.So tomorrow on the way home from work I will get a curved needle and some pins to hols everything in position while I try my hand at stitching all this together. It will probably come out looking like Frankenstein but it will protect the seat foam and hopefully look better

Great project.

I have been considering a very similar build but some guy in my neighborhood keeps buying all the Burbs around town to turn them into crew cabs.

Re: Project Patina Azul

The Burb was in an accident this weekend and its not pretty.A young woman leaving a parking lot cut across stopped traffic in the right lane and ran right into the front of my Burb.I will be rebuilding it and that's a promise.I know its gonna be a tough fight with the insurance company but I'm gonna hold my ground and not give in until I'm satisfied.Any help in locating a frame and front clip will be greatly appreciated.

Its safe at my house now.I have a good friend who owns a tow service.

I knew I had seen that burb before when I saw your thread in the general section. Sorry to hear about the crash. If you were closer I have some parts that would help with the rebuild.

Re: Project Patina Azul

Sorry to hear about the accident. At least you are OK. It's a whole lot easier to fix or replace a damaged vehicle than it is to fix physical injuries to your body.

I am still messed up more than a year and a half after getting hit from behind while I was stopped at a red light. Still fighting with the insurance companies over it too.

Good luck on the rebuild and with getting what you deserve out of the insurance company.

Re: Project Patina Azul

Thanks Y'all,I have a frame located that a good friend of mine has.He even has an apparatus to lift the body off and roll the frame out.I helped him do it to his 67 panel.I think Lynnfield has a front clip the same color scheme as well as great patina.Things are looking up as far as the rebuild goes.I have some good friends that are gonna help and with the help of the board we'll get it done.

Man, I just read this whole thread...to come to this. I am sorry. Here is a question - are you sure there is frame damage? It looks like the fender and hood are the only areas really hurt (besides the bumper and front core support). Well, I guess now that I think about it, those are hurt, too. Good news is that they can be repaired...just don't toss that truck. Glad you and the family are alright

Yes there is definitely frame damage.I have a good friend who has another 1/2 ton Burb frame.I just need the get the Burb tub off and switch out frames. He has a lifting rig that we used to pull his 67 panel tub off its frame so I know we have a way to get all this done.H ere are some shots of the frame damage. The second shot shows how far my drivers front tire sticks out past the body. The frame moved 4-5 inches at least. There's a dent in the air filter housing from it hitting to brake booster and the alt. hit the master cylinder.

Re: Project Patina Azul

Took about 30 minutes to pull the front clip.I've done it so many times I knew all the tools I needed and made short work of it.Now I need to get the engine ready to pull and borrow an engine puller. All the body mount bolts look good and I can see the treads are not rusted.I need to get over to my friends with the other burb and hit all the body mount bolts with some PB blaster. The plan is to get the frame swap done as soon as possible but do a good job.

While I'm doing the frame swap I might as well strip and paint the new frame before it goes under the Burb.I also need to do a few mods to the new frame to get the van gas tank with in tank fuel pump in.mount my fuel lines and move and drill the trans cross member.

Re: Project Patina Azul

Here is where I really need help from the wonderful members of this site.I need an original paint med. blue front clip.Paint does not have to be perfect, patina is preferred.I do how ever want dent free, mostly rust free sheet metal.I do plan on painting my burb back to original so I want the clip to have factory paint on the inner parts.

I know shipping will be a PITA but I will pay to have my baby back. Its out there waiting for me.I know you guys will come thru for me.Don't let me down

A clip in about the same condition as mine was is what I'm after. Here is a pic for reference.
