The loft is really cool actually! It was gonna be used for storage but we decided to keep it empty for the nieces and nephews to play in. I hung up a rope for them to the top of the 18 foot peak of the room, pry put up some basketball hoops too.

Which truck was yours the white dually or blue shortbox??!
I owned the shortbed, I put the doors front clip and rust free bed on it. A friend of mine did the frame shortening to it

Any chance you have a title for that cab?.. Could you tell me any more about the history of this truck?? I bought it from a guy named Tom who said he bought it from craigslist..

But what fun is a simple Cummins swap? Through all your hard work and deep pockets you've managed to build the by far coolest 73-87 I've ever seen. I cannot wait to see this thing done man. Keep up the good work and live life with no regrets.

Rim's are 16.5s not sure what brand.. WOW those pics give me the chills lol very very cool thanks for posting them! I plan on using that cab on an offroad only mud truck unless i find a vin tag and title.. I was very surprised at how solid the cab was for as much surface rust it had, i figured it sat outside for a long time. I couldn't believe how good the condition of the doors and front clip were! The entire body is at the body shop getting worked on right now. Finish date is getting pushed back further, my painter has been busy working on his sweet rat rod for torque fest:

Re: 89 crew cab k20 4wd twin turbo cummins swap

Not much but here's an update.. Been REALLY really busy getting ready for planting season. Torque Fest is finally over so my painter is finally starting on the cab, he thinks he'll be shootin paint in 2 weeks.. but pry more like a month. I told him my due date is June 25th when I want to pull my camper up to Country Fest in Wisconsin.

I finally got my custom power steering lines back! Took them 2 months to get them done so they only charged half price :party018:

Re: 89 crew cab k20 4wd twin turbo cummins swap

I finally have a good update for you guys, truck is finally getting some paint. Took awhile because the body shop switch everything over to water based Dupont paint plus my painter has been swamped with work. He was up til 3 AM last saturday getting these doors, fenders, and the interior painted. He tweaked the original pearl quite a bit to give it a more brilliant white then before. The mailbox now looks dirty brownish yellow next to the new custom white pearl. The last pic is a good comparison to my fiance's brand new summit white Chevy Cruze. She was very jealous : ) The pictures just don't do the paint justice!!! I should be getting everything back this Sunday so i'll definitely be posting more pics as this thing comes together, or as my painter calls it, The Little White Giant.

Thanks!
Pretty good, all the big rains have been just barley missing us, JUST like last year which did not end well.. Most of my corn is knee to waist high and looking very good, just a few yellow/wet spots that we've been hitting with sidedress.
How bout you?

Re: 89 crew cab k20 4wd twin turbo cummins swap

I got the truck box and cab back last Tuesday, then I was off to Country Fest in Cadott, WI all weekend n just got back today. Saw A LOT of nice trucks up there which was torcher not being able to work on my project back home.. I plan on taking it up next year for sure.
After mike painted the box I had spray on bedliner done which turned out very nice. Now 4th of July is here and a wedding only 1 month away there won't be much time for assembly..
I just upgraded my photobucket so i can keep the pics rolling in for you guys, you're gonna like these!

Re: 89 crew cab k20 4wd twin turbo cummins swap

Thanks guys!
Got a LOT done tonight after work even though it was hotter than a billy goat's a$$ in a pepper patch today!
Painted some more parts black then cleaned, masked, and undercoated the cab. Glad it's over with that undercoat is some messy stuff, now let's hope it dries in this humidity..

Eric do you have anymore pictures of how you put your inter cooler in the core support? It looks like you cut out all of the vertical support and even the bottom half to get the thing tucked inside the grill.

Re: 89 crew cab k20 4wd twin turbo cummins swap

Sry i don't have more pics but i will take more as i assemble the core support for the final time. I basically gutted the entire center and built a new frame with 1x3" square tubing. Welding to the thin core support metal sucked but overall it wasn't too bad, i'd recommend cutting out cardboard the shape of the intercooler then cutting the support until it can pass all the way through it. Then set the intercooler in place and build the frame around it.
I now have room for electric cooling fans in front of the radiator and i don't have to trim the grill or headlights.
For the hood latch just turn it 90 degrees so it clears the intercooler.
Good luck!

Re: 89 crew cab k20 4wd twin turbo cummins swap

I was actually looking at ways to install the intercooler in my front clip yesterday and I looked to see if I could set it in through the back side (Engine side) and it looks like if I cut the main supports out of the core support I should be able to drill two holes and the stock bottom intercooler mounts will slide right in those and then I will have to make new supports and build some brackets for the top intercooler mounts to bolt to. Doing it this way I shouldnt have to mess with the hood latch at all and I will have room up front for some electric pusher fans or maybe even still be able to get some puller fans between the engine and radiator.

Re: 89 crew cab k20 4wd twin turbo cummins swap

I'm using a big block radiator and hope to mount it in the stock place. I have an industrial 12v so I can't use a stock mechanical fan anyway.
