Re: Lets see your garage
I helped a friend build a big steel clad pole bldg. shop by his house that is in a small town. It's not exactly a hot real estate market where he is located, modest cost homes. He was upset when he went for an equity loan to pay off the bldg. expenses with they valued the place the same as a few years before. He had also built a new front porch and added solar panels on a new roof since. He should have looked into the loan first. I guess he used credit cards. He has a nice shop, but it's bigger than the house. Makes the house look small.

Re: Lets see your garage
The wife and I have been very diligent over the past 10 years paying the house off, we're down to about 4.5 years left. After appraisal we had something like 210K in equity because the value has gone up 85K since we bought it. I took out a 25K HELOC with 15K advance. I paid the first 30K of the build in cash. Been saving for quite a while. I hope to get out of it around 60K, fully finished with the lift. If I go a little over, no biggie. I just ordered the shingles, siding, and remaining sheeting from the place I used when I redid the house. Into it for 35K-ish so far. I have quotes for the doors ($$ because they're 10x10) and electric, after that all I have left to buy is sheetrock, insulation, and the lift... and get it all installed. Fun...
Quote:
The plan is for the two mustangs to take refuge in the 22x24 attached garage, with all the crap out of there they should both easily fit. The Bird, C10 tractor and silverado will all fit in the new garage with room to blow one of them completely apart. The bird will be first up.

Re: Lets see your garage
Bought my house specifically for the garage. It’s hard to get a decent sized shop in the city limits, and I’m not willing to move to an acreage just yet. Maybe when the kids are older.
It’s 38’ x 26’ with a 9’ x 34’ car port on the back. The only real crappy part about it is that I have to keep the heat at about 7degrees all winter as it has a a bathroom and thus running water. For some reason when they built the garage, they put the water meter in there. So i cant even drain the system in the winter. Just means I have work in there with regularity or else I’m just throwing money away.

Black Sheep. I think you need to clean your garage. I think I see a speck of dust in there.

Re: Lets see your garage
That's awesome Tim!
My earthwork, foundation, floor, block, and driveway is where most of the $ went. 30 truckloads of dirt were removed, we cut 5' out of the adjacent hill. Floor is 5" thick and we added footers for the lift. Ended up around 17K. Black sheep, that's what I'm going for! I'm planning on an Orange/White/Blue paint scheme. Mine will probably only ever be that clean the day it's done.

Re: Lets see your garage
My wife sneaks out there before I get home from work and cleans up, she's a little OCD about it. It didn't always look like that, while my '58 was being painted I gave the garage a much needed makeover. Before and after...

Shortly after the build was done I had concrete poured. Before and after.

Re: Lets see your garage
After the concrete cured I picked up a lift from advantage lift in Pa. Fairly easy to assemble.

Re: Lets see your garage
Here is a night pic of my 25' x 40'. Need tall ceilings for a lift and mine is 13 ft. It also has central heat & air and surround sound stereo system. A soundproof room for the 80-gal air compressor. I can park 4 cars, three on the floor and one in the air.

Kinda funny. Go check out my post (#82 in this thread) back in late 2019 and now a recent one. Same truck, only on the road now and a new project beside it.

Re: Lets see your garage
This is my 35x52 shop that I built in late 2019. We did most of the work ourselves. I am in the process of finally getting my bathroom finished. Been a long term project. Next is ceiling and central air. Already out of room!

Re: Lets see your garage
I guess you could say I have a garage since Feb 2020 . It's more of a storage container. I keep my '35 pickup in it.
