Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I'll try and get some pics tomorrow. Unfortunately while rolling it out of the garage to make room for my car this evening, I broke a brake line. So now I'll be making new brake lines before I can drive it to the exhaust shop.
Seeing as I have one lying around anybody know if I can use a booster and master cylinder from an impala ss? I'll measure it tomorrow but I think a Captainfab bracket might let me bolt it up. I may still have to swap the M/C for something dual channel with all disks instead of the Imp's disk/drum. <-- And yes even though the Imp has disk rears GM was to cheap to redo the proportioning valves. - Brian

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Just returned to Kansas City from my trip to Phoenix, via Denver & Albuquerque...a little over 3,200 miles, but I got some good rust-free sheet metal.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I drove my truck to the paint shop Saturday. No pics posted yet.
I hadn't driven it in 10 years. No head lights, stop lights, no tags, no sticker,no nothin... Took the back roads...It was fun. i was surprised how good it ran...did a lil burn out here and there.

Half of the fun IS KNOWING IT'S WRONG, doing it, and getting away with IT! Nothing like thumbing your nose to the MAN!

Might want to think about the rest of us, hate to see somebody else get hurt and you end up with a wrecked truck, fines, a revoked license. At a minimum... just a friend following you would have minimized the risk of somebody running into you. Better yet, find a buddy with a trailer. I bet you could have found somebody on here close to you that would have helped. My 2 cents .... Last edited by lakeroadster; 05-10-2010 at 08:02 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Today I tried to talk to DMV.. After an hour of waiting all I was able to get was "this vin number is not on file". Which actually is quite helpfull because I already know what to do for California there. Onward with the paperwork.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Lowered my truck with some Wrangler springs I picked up an Ebay for 30 bucks. Only have the rear done right now. In the process of tightening the right top bolt, I managed to crack my brake line... just my luck. Probably going to go ahead with my disk brake conversion to save myself the trouble of bleeding brakes two or three times.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Sadly I didn't do **** to the truck today ( other than ask for a price quote for suspension/brake parts ), I had to fix a cracked hinge attach point on the trunk in the 54 and I'm hunting down a reset on the ECU of my daily 75 BMW, I think I have it narrowed down to a faulty pull up resistor on the crank trigger.
Tomorrow I plan on wasting about 400lbs of sand blasting all the ( usable ) parts from the frame/suspension. I really need to grab the camera so I can get some pics of this thing as I go along. Only pic I have of the 63 ATM ( it has since been disassembled down to the last nut and bolt ). The 54 and my daily, How my daily motivates me |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
finished re-doing my partially rotted wood bed on the cheap. I got cut finish grade plywood into 3- 2' strips and screwed them down with the original metal strips (cleaned up and treated with Gibbs Protectant). I put two layers of used diesel motor oil mixed with some dark minwax wood stain. It should keep the water out. It looks good for under $40.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Welded a patch panel onto the right front fender. Then epoxy primed and did some touch-ups with filler. Next step: another coat of epoxy and then high build....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Nothing. I walked past it and looked sadly at the rusted rocker with a bird's nest in it.
At least something's getting some use out of it... |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I put an OOOGA horn on it. Doesn't sound just right. Will try to figure out what the problem is.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
The older "steel" horns have an adjustment screw and locknut accessible via the center of the horn opening. Loosen the locknut up and then turn the adjustment screw with screwdriver. This adjusts the mechanism.
