Thanks . It is also alot easier searching for a piece of scrap steel in my pile of "I'll save this for something someday" than doing a online search for a piece of unobtainium. If you know what I mean.

Looks like fun. They used to have a fly in breakfast about 30 miles from me but no car show with it. I guess I should have mentioned it to them.....

It's a annual thing, this is the first time I was able to make it out. They have a pretty good turn out.

Re: 1968 C10 Suburban

I have not posted anything about the Burb cause all I've done is drive it lately. It must've gotten jealous of the fact that I bought a new radiator for my '35 Pickup (lol) because yesterday I was driving back from getting groceries and it just died. After getting it back to the house and checking a few things I changed out the HEI ignition module and it started right up.

I keep an extra, but may put one in each vehicle just in case.

Re: 1968 C10 Suburban

I replaced the fuel tank and sending unit in Oct '22 and one day last year the fuel gauge stopped working . One time it actually did work but quit again . I been writing down my mileage so I could keep track and not run out ... Well , I haven't looked at my 'lil notebook lately and OOPS , I ran out about a half mile from the house . When it died I thought OH NO WTF and then I looked at my notebook and realized I haven't put gas in since Dec 17th. I went around 246 miles since then , I walked to the house and grabbed a can that I keep for the mowers . There was less than a gallon in it , so when I put that in and got it running I went back to town (about 3 miles) . I ended up putting in 19.3 gallons , that comes up a little less than 13 miles per gallon. I also filled my can for the mowers in case I need it . I was going to take the instrument cluster out and change the gauge to see if that was the problem, but the funny thing is now the fuel gauge is working ... I also took my shift lever out of the column and sprayed PB Blaster in and got it loosened up 'cause it was getting hard to shift it into reverse and park .

My wife has had to come and rescue me a few times.... .. It is a running joke with my friends, they say that any new project of mine isn't christened until My wife has to come and get me or bring me some gas.... .. It does sound like a bad connection or ground though.

I've come into the house a few times to her saying "What's wrong" or "What happened".... I only call her for help as a last resort.... .... I have checked the wires at the tank as best I can without dropping the tank.

Re: 1968 C10 Suburban

I took out the glove box insert to get to the stock speaker and the radio had to come out and then I thought ... I've got to get this out of the way to put on the new dash pad I have so why not keep going, so now I've got the dash taken apart and I might as well get a new bezel while I'm this far and ordered one Today. More to come

Re: 1968 C10 Suburban

The speakers look good. I should have pulled my guages when I put my speakers in. I'm sure it would have saved me some work as our guages are pretty easy to remove compared to most.

Re: 1968 C10 Suburban

Moved the speakers out about a 1/2" to center them in the hole a little better. I had some new defroster vents to put in already and I've got a new ignition switch bezel coming as well.
