Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
I finally got around to installing the drivers side one piece window. The template that came with the kit was no where close to the holes that will need to be slotted! And any of you square body guys that will be installing one of these kits, make sure you grind the weld nut on the inside of your door completly flat to the new shorter hinge bolt, or you will break your glass when you roll your window down! In all it took me about four hours total to install and adjust to get the fit right. I think it looks good and the glass fit is nice.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
...lets just say they dont fit like the oem set up. In the up position they look great. The new track design operates alot better than some of the earlier stuff did. A little gap in the middle of the door at the seal, again not bad. I think most people running these are on full blown show trucks that are not used often, how they will hold up and and operate on an old beater like mine only time will tell!

Looks Sweet!!! I would love to have the one piece glass in mine but it's not a garage queen. Heck I haven't ever parked my truck in the garage. I got too much crap in there. LOL.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
crawdad... the one piece windows look killer. I was wondering how the fitment issues would be as the '67-72 one piece windows are loose when rolling down the window.
Looks awesome! BTW I'm glad to hear that you decided to not sell it at this time. I want to see this thing finished! Also did you see that Kevin is working on installing an I6 on a dropmember...?

Looks nice!
IF,... you had it to do again,... would you have spent the cash on the one piece windows? All the labor aside,... was it worth it?

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
I think that's a matter of perspective. On a a truck that maintains a mostly stock appearance, I like them. On a slicked up custom, I think they are mandatory.

Yes.. my wing glass rubbers were shot. Anyone that has tried to change the vent glass seals knows its allmost impossible, so factor in about 300 bucks for new vent window assemblies the one piece deal is not too bad.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
Not to worry, i have ironed out the storage issues and i'm back on track! I had a bunch of calls and tried to pull it off of the Hub....but i had to mark it sold! I painted the grill & headlight bezels and installed a new grill emblem, and done the other one piece window today.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
The one piece window install is done! I would like to say the passenger side took half as long as the drivers side....but it didn't! So you can figure around 8 hours to install and adjust both sides. The new track design offers alot better support when the windows are partially down than some of the earlier style kits i have seen. With the one piece windows the wiper arms looked a out of place so they are gone! The sticker on the back window is just for people who live south of lake Ponchatrain!

They would look better slid forward about 3" or taken off ....but with the original paint it's not an option.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
I love it. If you really want to do something about the mirrors, take a look at the mid 60's Nova/Camaro/Chevelle units.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
Ken i was thinking the same thing! I bought one of the mirrors you have pictured years ago for a 63 Nova. The round head would look alot better on the truck than the square plus i like the bowtie.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmembers & 22's on my 77 Ebay truck
I hope you're happy. Now I know I just gotta have the one piece windows. Cause all the cool kids are gettin' em. Everything seal right? No Complaints? Just gotta be careful putting them in, eh?
My buddy has been trying to get me to the Jazz Fest next month. If I go, will you let me do a proper shoot for that truck? Just something for us here on the board. I've got a pretty good camera and have been trying to learn. Plus you could throw a rock in New Orleans and hit an awesome background. I'm thinking one of the grave yards, of course. Let me know.
