Got the bed off today and started unbolting the cab. Got the rear two bolts out but after a couple of turns both front bolts started spinning. From what I can tell my only option is to cut a hole in the floor to get the nut. Hope to get the cab off before the end of the week and start on the frame work this weekend.

That's exactly what I had to do on one of my front bolts. A just used a hole saw then welded the nut to the support.

So when I cut the hole what am I going to find in there? Did they just have a nut welded on and I can remove it with a socket or is it something I will have to weld back on before I can remove the bolt.

There is a square nut that is captured by the support piece. What happens is the support piece gets out of shape (gets bigger) and allows the nut to spin. I just through a tack weld on mine and left it in there, and backed the bolt out. Piece of cake.

The plan is to put a fuel cell in the rear and relocate the fuel filler to the filler panel at the rear of the bed. I had never seen that done until I came across this picture yesterday. If this guy got it to work hopefully I can to.

Push to connects right now but the whole thing is going to be done in stainless before the body goes back on.

question. in looking at your front suspension, I see you used Suicide doors upper A-arm mounts and the factory front crossmember. did you cut the spring cups off of the crossmember, have it boxed in, and then have the upper bag mounts bolt up on the frame? the front is Z'd right? I think I remember you saying the front track is narrowed. how did you accomplish that with factory A-arms? is that what the upper bracket does? I was curious of this, trying to save from droppin 2500 on a drop member. are you running factory steering setup?

The upper brackets move the arm position up 3" and in 1-1/8". I moved the lower mounts up 3" and in 1-1/8" to match.

I am going to run a rack and pinion.

NO problem, if you do something similar just make sure you brace it properly because you remove a lot of strength. Those pieces you can see from the bottom are cut from 1/2" plate and are about 1 1/2" tall.

yea. i have quite a bit of scrap 1/4" plate laying around. I always tend to over build things.. just cause I worry about it not being stong enough.. lol

looks like a 88-98 bed floor and gas door, and it looks good between those 67-72 bedsides
