Re: 84 c10 stepside
Jeff,
The headers look nice, and it will be Easy having the spark plug wire routing on top in stock location. Really had to work hard with the headman headers 1 3/4" for number 5 plug wire routing, very tight. You got me thinking hard about an LS motor for my wife's 64' short bed air project, next on the list. Current plan is for a 417 CI World Products heavy duty small block ( I have the block). Hum...... So many LS choices. Les |

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Hey Les ,happy holidays sometimes headers can be a pain summit makes insulators so the boots don't cook when they get hot I'm focusing on my fuel system now haven't got the headers in yet maybe next week they'll deliver them got the new yoke on the driveshaft to connect to the4l80e trans the power steering lines were a good fit didn't have to replace them gotta pick away at the things I need to complete this I like the prices on some of the used ls engines out there even the4.8would be a noticeable difference over a stock 350 and you can pick one up for600$ or so it's all the other stuff you gotta do to get everything working that kills you as far as price goes once you have it set up though then you can take advantage of the good deals nickels and dimes ya at first there might be a couple of ls swaps around here buti haven't seen any yet that's what's making me go thru with it not easy around the holidays for sure

Re: 84 c10 stepside
The new headers came In looks like they are gonna fit ordered parts for the fuel system not easy so close to Christmas but I was able to swing it this year without pissing too many people off had to make some sacrifices here and there wish I could afford to use every top of the line part and make every performance modification I could think of but I Need to keep it real and make things work as much as I can I'm working relentlessly to see this thruI wish everyone who is trying to do the same and get their rig out there luck coming up happy new year

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Sometimes the less expensive parts are good enough, I know I can't afford a set of $900 swap headers, so those headers look like a great alternative.
For my swap I may try to adapt the fuel lines from the donor truck, I'm getting a whole parts truck for my swap. |

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Jeff,
How is the engine swap going? Any progress to report? Or are you slowed by all the snow you are getting? For me, family stuff is taking over for a bit. Les |

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Les,I'd like to say that it wasn't affecting me but we got 2ft of snow last week and another 1 1/2 ft today puts a damper on things family has surely been a factor too lately been tryn to get the right parts here had to make another couple orders needed to get new plug wires didn't like how close they were to the headers had to get a couple new gnd straps had to get a new battery tray to relocate the battery to the drivers side parts came in today but there's more snow predicted slowly but slowly

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Jeff,
That is a lot of snow, are you forcast to get more too. We get really bad ice storms here, which is bad too, does lots of damage to trees. I need to do more fitting out on 86' engine stuff too, like adding more ground straps, hope to get the HD cooling, all installed soon. Hope to have the right parts now? Have tried lots of parts to make it work. Les |

Re: 84 c10 stepside
The drivers side I got with the parts truck not sure where it came from but it was new never put on the truck I bought a drivers side battery tray also to relocate the battery and make room for the cold air intake and keep things right with the newer wiring had to get a new battery too the top post battery on the passenger side wasn't working figures. the passenger side fenderwell I got off of eBay I was lucky they fit good pretty sure if you ordered them from lmc they would be the same made in Taiwan eBay was the cheapest there was one on Craigslist but too far away had to go new mine had holes/ patches

Re: 84 c10 stepside
very cool. Helps me visualize my swap. Think I'm going to get a different intake tube.
BTW mid 90's Windstar fans fit great. And flow about 4400 cfm. |
