Cowl vent gasket/rubber
I am putting on some of those cowl vent screens and a new rubber seal. Do those guards sit on top of the rubber or underneath it?

The cowl screen sits on the half of the seal with holes in it and the other part covers the top of the screen. The seal "sandwiches" the cowl in between the seal. The cowl seal should have a "u" shaped cross section, but some don't so you have to use the holes as your reference.

Wow, I am really confused. So the seal folds over. Minus the screens I should be able to find pics of this in the " Truck Assembly Manual " Or " Truck Chassis Manual " I hope . I really need to find some truck friends. Local. LOL I have another cowl that will be sanding/priming to put on so I will be redoing this soon.
Also the part of the truck under the cowl that usually collects all of the leaves, trash debris ect... How does someone repair any rust in that area?! I can tell I am going to be in the market for a rust free cab.

The cowl seal is supposed to fold over. The aftermarket ones are not shaped like the originals so depending on what you have it could look like this, (aftermarket seal).
