the people these days... house break in
Sooo... im sound asleep up in my bed at 4:00 am, I wake up to the sound of a starter cranking over and over. wtf??? I run downstairs to see someone in the Volvo trying to start it!! grrrrr grrrrrr. He jumped out quickly when he saw me and tried to make a break for it. He got about half way down the driveway till he got taken down. My dad a few seconds later came out saw what was happening and quickly found some zip ties to tie him up with. We had him hog tied face down on the cold cement till the cops came and got him.
He ripped the tumbler out of the Volvo and was using a screwdriver as the key. Scratched up the dash a little bit, nothing major, but the worst part was that he had my dads gym bag (my dad packs it the night before and leaves it in his car) with his wallet, ring, and other important things. he broke in through the back door of the garage, and the cars were unlocked “safely inside”. Sorry or the ranting, I just wish at times I could of done something…. Well more painful to the dude. lesson of the story. LOCK UP YOUR CARS!! even if they are in your garage.

Holy crap! I just read your story and it got me to thinking. If someone were to just walk in my shop they could easily drive off with any car or truck they wanted. All nice and easy. Even gassed up and ready to go. I guess one gets a little complacent as time goes by. The big hassle of having to go all the way (15 feet hehe) back to the house for a set of keys doesn't seem so bad now.
Thanks for the wake up call. |

Glad to hear the damage was not as bad as it could have been. Too bad you weren't in Texas. If someone breaks into you're house you can shoot on site

You are so lucky! That could have been a nightmare come to life if he had gotten the car started. I'm pretty sure if it had happened in my driveway it would have appeared he was pointing a gun at me. Sorry officer, it was self defense....

Seems to be more and more of this sh*t going around here. Too bad he just got a ride to the LO police station and released to his parents if he has any, they are probably felons too!

Actually in texas you can shoot em even if they are on your property. Anyone can shoot someone if they are in their house, especially w/ a screwdriver in their hand! Officer it looked like a gun! or a knife and he was running at me. C10-volvo I dont like volvo's but yours looks pretty sweet, I appreciated looking at those pics of your volvo as much as any of the SWB 1/2 tons here. Thankfully it didn't start! Also not to be too specific but it is so easy to get into 90%+ of the garages out there, I do it for a living, not in Texas though! You are the man! Got any pics of the blood on your driveway? |

That's awesome you got him & hog tied him w/zip ties!
I had some punks break into my truck several years ago, one a 17 yr old who had been released from juvie the day before. The oldest one got a total of 7 years sentence on 4-5 counts. I was surprised they gave him anything.

Too bad you didn't get pics of the @sshole. You could post them on local boards and let everyone know what a litle scumbag he is. I would have at least broken his ankle. That way evey time he takes a step, he remebers what happened....

Your lucky he only wanted your car.
Glad you caught him, but if he would have had a weapon it could have gone the other way. I would have introduced him to a shotgun

im not sure i'd shoot him. too much hassle of lawsuits if he or his family decided they wanted to press charges on you for it. beat his head on the driveway until he's unconcious, and run over his legs with the car he attempted to steal. "he fell and hit his head when i tackled him, and he must've knocked the car out of gear, because it chased him down, honest officer."

I have a feeling that I might have hurt him really bad lol!
caught a guy trying to do the same thing in Colorado in my dad's ZR-1 Vette. I mean he had big ballz! he came in the garage no more than 1 minute after we went in the house. had just enough time to take off my shoes....opened the garage to shut the main door and he was in there. jumped up took off running. I grabbed a 10 lb torque wrench and chased after him. He knew the area and chose a neighbors house that had huge gravel rock instead of grass...I chucked the bar at him and hit one leg while he was on the fence...he fell over and took off in teh dark..never found him again. I was pissed he got away.

You obviously have more restraint than most not to run him over with the volvo, that's what I would have done.
