Stainless Steel Brakes, front brake upgrade. Now I have to get some new brake hoses. My stock rubber won't work.

I guess I'll go ahead and get some stainless hoses from Inline Tube. Now I still have to wait to get my brakes done.

Yes, it uses the same pads as my stock ones. My truck came with JB5 brakes which is part of the 1-1/4" rotors.

Mike what exactly is that? Is that the SSBC slotted rotors and your repainted calipers, or did you get something more?

I'm thinking about swapping my SSBC from my Blazer to the 77. I can't make up my mind if I want that or build a bigger brake system. Regardless that looks good....

Do you have 1-1/4" rotors now? If not, yes, you would need new spindles.

So the rotors are the same size, it just uses "larger than stock" calipers? Are they GM calipers or what?

to tell you the truth, they look almost like my stock calipers did. The piston is bigger though. They use the same pads I do know for sure. I didn't look at them real close, but I don't think they are GM made. I didn't see any GM markings on them. What I like is they are new and not rebuilt. The kit comes with new everything.

Thanks for the link Mike. That looks like a perfect upgrade since I already have the rotors. Now I need to decide what to do about the rear. I have a disc conversion already, but it uses Ford style calipers. I like the new kit they have with the PBR style calipers better. ...

For spindles, you can buy stock ones, or they sell 2" drop spindles in kits with this brake kit. I have two stock height 1-1/4" spindles in the shop that come off my truck.

Heavy duty brakes they are referring to is if your rotors are 1-1/4" thick.

I don't know about the xtra life plating. I didn't get it. What is it exactly? Something to keep them shiney or make them last longer? I'm going to buy some caliper paint from Eastwood and paint everything on the rotors that the pads don't rub. Thinking maybe gloss black to match the calipers. Anyone ever used any of this stuff. The kit to paint 4 calipers is $35 bucks. Of course I'll be painting rotors instead.

Xtra Life Plating
If you upgrade to the Turbo slotting, you can then also add our Xtra Life plating. In this process we add protective finish layers to the entire surface of the rotor. This will help prevent the areas where the pads do not come into contact with the rotor from rust and corrosion, all while maintaining that “new” look.

I have the Eastwood caliper/drum paint kit and it includes everything you need. I haven't used it yet but if it's like the rest of their products.....I'll be happy.

The Baer kit I have uses 97-up Corvette pads.

Did you ever get your rear disc problems sorted out? I never did read if you got the squishy pedal fixed.
