Wanted Headers for '68 2wd 350 smallblock

Looking just for some cheap headers for my 1968 Chevy SWB 2wd has a 350 in it. I know I can get some around here for 130$ but looking for cheaper I am on a budget. Thanks!!

next week i may have a good used set of DynoMax long tube headers made for 67-72 trucks with small block. they are painted with factory manifold grey paint made by POR-15 paints. the paint did not flake off when put through heat cycle
but they do have so suface rust now. i may have the correct low clearence bolts to go with them. i ordered a set of ceramic block hugger headers to replace these i want to make sure the fit right before i decide to make the swap. if it all works out i'll take $50 plus shipping for the DynoMax headers.

On eBay classic parts under chevy you can buy chrome block huggers for around 60 $. Non chrome for less. I won this set for 61.00 dollars.

those look nice, and that price sounds pretty damn cheap too. how do they fit? your initial thoughts?

depending on fit/finish, i don't think you can get much cheaper than that new. do they offer them coated?

edit: what size of collector is on there?

They turn blue, just look at any Harley that gets ridden.

By the way, the motor mount clearance on those block huggers worries me. I'd like to see them installed on a truck. I've used them on streetrods before and they interfered with the mounts...a lot....

I got some block huggers for my son's '77 350 and they would not fit due to interference with the motor mounts. We sent them back and got a refund. Went with the Dynomax Chevelle shorties and they worked great. The only problem was the loss of torque compared to the long tube Headman's we were running. The Headmans did not give enough ground clearance with a 5/7 drop. That still bothers me that you have to give up performance when dropping a truck that low. I am sure there is a great set of headers out there that will work but I have not located them. I am interested in other's experience in this area.

i have them on my 35 chevy, they are more of a streetrod header.

anything that had the "ram horn" style factory manifoldes should except block hugger headers. CCT magazine has an atrticle about installing these headers on our trucks. http://www.classictrucksweb.com/tech/0308cl_exhaust/

Listen, I don't know if they will work or not. All I said was that on a street rod I had, they would hit the mounts, and I suspect they might hit the stock truck mounts.

By the way, the photos below are from that article that 68 TPI referenced. That truck has Mustang II front suspension and way different motor mounts.

Just an idea you might consider...
I'm using exhaust manifolds off of an '87 vette on my Blazer. They are similar in design to ramshorns but at a much cheaper price. Check e-bay I got mine for $40. There shouldn't be any clearance issues and they shouldn't leak either. I think they are all the same from 84-87 or so.

Let's see........the reason people use headers and put up with leaks and crappy sound is to improve performance--right?
Then how do they improve performance if they lead directly into a 2" pipe as the pic shows? Looks like a severe obstruction to flow to me.
I know, I know, ..most headers have a large collector pipe, but it shows how foolish some people can be. Personally, I'll stick with my ramshorns even if I lose all 3 horsepower and 200 rpm at the top end.

The headers fit on ram horn exhaust trucks without motor mount troubles.
They are shapped just like the ram horns.

The longer the header tube,the more torque produced, so conventional headers are better for drag machines,I do not drag mine!

They will turn a little blue if you run hot and fast,I didn't pay a lot for that muffler! ( headers)

I expect at this price the headers will not be of the same long lasting qualitity
That more costly brands provide,the guy wanted a less expensive solution.

I've got a set of traditional headers that have been sandblasted and repainted $60, plus shipping.

Based on the above you might find better, but just had to add that.
